Celebrating Light.
This is essentially a gratitude practice and we're going to bring awareness to all the different lights that you might encounter in your life and how they are both functional and mood changing.
So getting yourself into a seated position.
Comfortable position.
With a straight back.
Allowing your shoulders to fall away from your ears.
Gently closing your eyes if that feels good.
I'm just checking in with your body.
In your mind.
How are you feeling today?
Got any areas of tension or niggles.
Or persistent thoughts.
Just directing your breath.
Into that area.
Some nice big breaths.
And just letting them go.
With the out-breath.
And just for the next five minutes,
Just focusing on our appreciation of light.
So light is essential for our well-being.
The sun wakes us up.
And then when it's dark,
We go to sleep.
And then we can have nice bright lights to help us with what we need to do in the day,
Our actions.
And then to help us unwind in the evening,
We can have more cosy lights.
So how many lights have you used today already?
Just bringing your attention to that.
So the biggest light of all is the sun.
Which provides us with so much light and heat,
Energy.
Just feeling that appreciation.
For all that.
And just thinking to the lights in your home.
Perhaps you chose them for specific reasons.
They give you a certain mood.
Or perhaps it's really bright so you can see into all the corners.
Think just as you go through your day.
Workplaces.
Offices,
Factories,
Hospitals,
Supermarkets.
Anywhere you go.
It has lights.
Because there was a time where these lights didn't exist in the same way.
Just feeling a sense of gratitude for All the inventions.
All the people involved in the.
.
.
Production and sales.
So you can have light.
Your life.
If you've ever been camping,
You know how essential a torch is.
Maybe candles are your thing and they bring you a sense of happiness.
Just having a flame flickering.
Perhaps with the smell as well.
I've got a Himalayan rock salt lamp.
It gives a really nice vibe,
Really nice colour.
Lights are also integral to our celebrations.
For example,
Christmas.
Fairy lights,
Christmas tree lights.
Today is Diwali.
Which is the Festival of Light.
Which is all about the triumph of light over the dark.
If you think if you go on a night out and there's music.
Difference the lights make there.
Maybe willing people to dance.
So just with all these different examples.
Just sitting for a few moments.
Just feeling that sense of appreciation for all these different kinds of lights.
Both natural and unnatural,
Man-made.
Maybe you have a favourite light that you just want to sit and consider for a few moments.
How that makes you feel.
Maybe it gives you a sense of warmth,
Happiness.
Maybe it makes you want to smile.
Okay,
So just bringing your attention once more to your breath.
Just noticing how that feels.
Now we've brought some gratitude into the body and mind.
And just gently opening your eyes when you're ready.
And just going about your day with a new appreciation for all the lights that you have in your life.
Thank you.
