A sleep practice that incorporates relaxation, awareness and a body scan to calm every part of your mind and body. Cruise along on a ship, smelling the aqua air and watching the whitewash of the waves as your vessel travels the waters. Then relax on deck, closing your eyes to hear the beautiful scenery around bring every level down until you sleep.

Transcript

Allow yourself some time to melt tension away,

To let go of any overthinking,

If only for now.

There are no breathing exercises in this meditation,

Only a deep relaxation from imagining the words and sounds that you hear.

Take a moment to adjust,

Allowing your breathing to naturally calm and your mind to settle.

You can relax as much as you are willing to let go,

Even closing your eyes if you wish to do so.

Now,

In the magical place of your imagination,

See yourself standing on the deck of a cruise ship,

Looking upon the land of which you will momentarily depart.

The air is crisp,

Calming and easily breathable.

You can smell the aqua scent of the ocean and its refreshing energy.

As you look around,

The dock is quite quiet,

With only a few people milling around.

Some are passengers and others are the people that work here to make this a special experience.

The far off horizon provides perspective to the whole scene,

Where hills and valleys peak and dip,

Green in colour and very clear to the eyes.

Above is a warm blue sky,

With little to no cloud,

Perhaps the occasional white puff individually floating in sight.

The sea is as calm as can be,

As you hear the tiny ripples gently waving up and down against the ship.

Looking towards the vast ocean,

The horizon provides clearness,

With its blank blue hue of discovery,

Awaiting to be ventured.

Good murmurs of inaudible talking and the soft lapping of the sea allows your mind to settle a little.

Coming back to observing your surroundings,

The ship's horn,

Signalling its departure,

Is heard.

Almost silently,

The cruise ship's engines engage as it prepares to move off.

As you look about,

You hardly notice how the ship begins to drift away from the dock,

Only the presence of a slight breeze is felt on your face,

Which is a beautiful relief from the warm heat of the sun.

You begin to feel slightly more free from any tension,

As you observe the distance between you and the land.

With a restful sigh,

Your shoulders release,

Melting down along with the tops of your arms.

Even your back loosens.

As your ship widens the gap between the shore and your journey,

You look out beyond the sea,

Being soothed with relief at the gentle breeze on your face.

The fresh air does wonders in this moment,

Allowing you to feel present in every way.

Away from distractions now,

Leaving behind anything that is not you or part of you.

Feeling yourself is what this journey is all about,

To be free of outside interferences.

During this time,

All things are there to promote healing,

Positivity and peace.

As your ship floats along,

Gliding along the surface of the ocean,

A seagong matches your speed.

Gliding through the air,

It turns off course,

Almost saluting you as it does.

Looking below,

You see the water glisten and reflect the warm sun's rays into the side of the vessel,

Shimmering,

Sparkling and waving in a hypnotic rhythm.

The only sounds you hear now are the light splashes as you pass over the gentle waves.

Now in your own inner world of tranquility,

You only relax some more.

There is nothing but a peaceful atmosphere all around,

And even though there are sounds that can be heard,

They seem quieter than usual.

All overthinking shifts out of your focus.

To concentrate on this present moment of restfulness,

You decide to take a slow paced walk from the front of the ship to the back.

Relaxing every moment and every angle of this beautiful scenery is warming.

The wooden surface of the floor gives a satisfying groundedness of a well built platform.

You observe that there are not many passengers,

And the ones that you do see are quietly enjoying their own peaceful journey.

Anyone you walk past smiles warmly,

As if in agreement to the tranquility that you feel yourself.

Slowly meandering,

You take in the sights and almost silent sounds of the here and now.

In this moment,

You recognise that you are enjoying your own inner peace,

But at the same time,

You are not alone.

Surrounded by the same like minded people who are wanting the same things,

You become aware of a warmth inside your chest.

And the warmth that you sense inside radiates to all your muscles,

Even relaxing your face.

As the sun shines down,

Warming your skin,

The evaporation of the oceanic scent clears your every thought.

Now far and away from the old way of thinking,

All you need is this moment.

You are learning about yourself as you relax further,

Letting your mind drift to wherever it floats.

You are learning that you can in fact relax,

You can feel no guilt in doing so too.

You have learnt that being present helps to calm emotions,

Thoughts and tense sensations.

Most of all,

You have learnt to give yourself this much needed time to take a break.

With each step,

Your body becomes more relaxed and every muscle loosens.

You are no longer bound by any negativities or circumstances.

Your mind is free to think how you want it to think.

This profound realisation brings a sense of confidence and self love of which you enjoy very much.

Now half way across the ship,

You see the vastness of the ocean and liken it to your mind.

You are now not confined to a small area but have opened up to all possibilities,

Not just to what you are used to.

These new feelings and sensations relax you deeply in mind and in body.

Above is a clear blue sky,

Rich in colour,

Untouched by any clouds.

The sun projects warmth and light like an unparalleled positive energy.

Possibly the quietest part of the ship,

You hear almost nothing,

Not even a breeze.

As you walk along the middle section of the deck,

You hear only your breathing.

Each breath calm,

Deep and steady.

You decide to stay in the mid section of the vessel.

Walking over to a deep cushioned sun lounger,

You lie down.

The soft comfort of every muscle resting down brings an instant relief.

With only the sound of your breathing and the odd splash as the ship rises and descends across the ocean,

You find it very peaceful.

Resting your body down,

You soak up the atmosphere in this oasis of bliss.

Resting heavily into your sun lounger,

The clean oxygenated oceanic air is absorbed deeply into your now relaxed body.

Everything feels peaceful.

As you sense your eyes softening from the warmth,

You decide to retire any thinking for now.

The pleasant warmth of the sun can be felt as the last of any persuasion to move anymore is depleted.

Now ready for any sleep,

Be it a nap or more,

You let the automatic pull of gravity allow your head to sink deeply down into your pillow.

The shape of the sun lounger promotes a heaviness whilst the heat of the sun encourages your muscles to unwind.

Feeling heavier,

Your body sinks into a shifting restful slumber.

As you breathe naturally,

Each part of your body descends as your mind retreats.

Your face muscles clear of any other expression except that of peace.

As your neck muscles become loose,

Your head drifts deeper into your plush,

Comfort filled pillow,

Allowing your eyelids,

Every reason,

To remain closed.

As you go more,

Your arms weigh down further with gravity,

Transitioning your hands and fingers into a limp state.

The grasp of awareness is now fading,

Your chest and abdomen loosens abundantly,

Aligning your back in a way that encourages further relaxed thoughts.

The warmth of the sun only encourages your already relaxed state to continue deepening as your hips and thighs sink down into your sun lounger.

The relief of letting go into a state of just being presents your legs,

Ankles and feet a comfort,

A softening of the bottoms of each foot and an unfurling of each toe.

A peaceful balance of clearness and relaxation is achieved as you just let go.

Every awareness now fading in the ambience of everything you feel,

Which takes you nearer to a sleepy state.

Every muscle delicately becomes soothed and loosened as your body becomes relaxed from the warmth you now feel in this moment.

Your mind floating towards a peaceful rest with nothing more than tranquility.

Every sound brings solace with your awareness now beginning to fade out as you slip further into a heavy state of bliss.

Your body now shifting naturally towards gravity,

Into a weight of peace that feels so euphoric.

Breathing deeper and longer breaths,

Your abdomen and also your chest effortlessly loosen.

With your back softly easing,

Your shoulders,

Head and neck give up any resistance as every sensation helps to take you deeper.

With all sounds and awareness fading more and more as you enter into a deeply pleasant and refreshing sleep,

Your arms sink down to your sides,

Allowing your fingers,

Hands and wrists to be placed in a restful position.

As the last of any faded sounds are heard,

Your feet,

Ankles and legs anchor down heavily,

Giving up the last of today out through your toes.

Now asleep,

You feel the rejuvenating of your mind and body.

In this moment,

You will remember every sensation felt that brought you to this peaceful state.

Drifting further,

Your mind becomes balanced once again.

Your positivity and perspective are replenished and your body refreshed.

And now,

You give yourself the right of letting go in this warm and blissful state.

The quiet atmosphere in the sleep that you experience takes care of you and with your willingness of letting go more,

You will find peace and healing.

You are hearing no sounds as you float off to sleep.

You are losing awareness as you become calmer.

You are breathing deeper and longer breaths on each cycle.

You are relaxed as can be,

So much so that your eyes prefer to stay closed.

You are letting go the more you relax.

You are at peace with today and now ready to drift further.

You are drifting further into a sleep filled state.

You are no longer overthinking anything,

Your mind is clear enough to sleep.

You are completely relaxed in every way,

From mind to body.

You are letting go more to immerse yourself deeply into a satisfying sleep.

You are in full control of how much you relax.

You are recognising that the more you let go,

The more you relax.

You are drifting into a sleepier state as each second passes.

You are clear in mind and free of distractions.

You are feeling more space in your mind and around your body.

You are noticing how free you feel,

Not only in mind.

You are starting to drift in and out of awareness as you relax more and more.

You are experiencing a very sleepy sensation that makes your eyelids heavier and heavier.

You are beginning to feel restful.

You are listening now to the silence that longs you to sleep.

You are in balance with your emotions.

You are observing how the night air stills your mind and calms your emotions.

You are staying focused on this pleasant state that you find yourself in.

You are being kind to yourself by allowing the letting go of anything negative.

You are still and being mindful to stay in this pleasing state.

You are beginning to fall asleep to the peaceful silence.

You are beginning to let go of your day.

You are paying attention to your breathing as it calms you further.

You are in need of sleep and rest,

Knowing it will replenish you.

You are shifting past the edge of awareness and into sleep.

You are in perspective at this moment and feel grounded.

You are noticing your muscles becoming loose and cool.

You are observing your body sinking downwards with how relaxed you feel.

You are feeling your mind settling.

You are one with everything in this moment.

You are at peace even with the things you cannot change.

You are now calm enough to sleep.

You are now calm enough to relax.

You are free to relax.

You are free to sleep.

You are free to relax.

You are free to relax.

You are free to relax.

I was asleep in no time. I agree with past posts! Your voice is calming, etc. which is important. It is like you β€œfeel” what it is that you are saying, putting yourself in the listeners place. I have trouble sleeping due to depression.You take care with these and it is very much appreciated.
