Hi and welcome to this meditation.
My name is Chris McDonald.
I'm a licensed therapist.
Go ahead and sit comfortably with your feet on the floor.
You can have your eyes closed or just look at the floor gently with your eyes soft.
Let's start with taking some deep breaths.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
Pause at the top and exhale,
Releasing,
Letting it out.
And again,
Inhaling through your nose,
Pausing at the top and exhale,
Releasing,
Letting go.
And one more time,
Inhale through your nose,
Pausing at the top and let it go.
Exhale,
Releasing.
And just allow your breath to go back to its natural rhythm and pace.
Just notice your breath for a moment before we take this journey.
Just see if you can notice your chest rising on the inhale,
Falling on the exhale,
Tuning in to that gentle rising and falling.
Feel yourself relaxing more and more with each breath.
In your mind,
Say to yourself,
I am calm and relaxed.
I am calm and relaxed.
Let's start our imaginary journey.
So imagine that you're walking through a beautiful green meadow.
There's a slight breeze blowing.
The sun is shining,
Warming your skin.
Only a few clouds in the sky.
In this space,
You feel so calm and peaceful.
Walking in this field,
You notice to the right,
There's something over there.
You're not quite sure what it is.
And you just continue to pace yourself going towards this object,
Feeling your feet as they walk along the earth,
Feeling your arms as they go back and forth with your walking pace,
Feeling the breeze through your hair,
Smelling the fresh air.
You just feel so connected and grounded here.
And as you turn to the right,
You notice a colorful hot air balloon.
This was not what you were expecting.
You notice the rainbow of colors on the balloon,
The reds,
Blues,
Yellows,
All in a zigzag pattern.
You decide to take a ride.
So you gently step into the basket,
Feeling a bit of excitement,
Maybe a little bit of anxiety,
But you're ready.
You know this is what you're meant to do.
Slowly and quietly,
The balloon takes off from the ground.
With it,
You're feeling a bit lighter already.
And in your mind,
Your intuitive self tells you,
It's time to release your burdens.
And you can do this one by one with the sandbags.
So you take one of the sandbags,
Hold it in your hand.
Notice how heavy it is.
This one represents any money problems you have.
You take it,
Lift your arm up,
And slowly release it out of the balloon.
With that,
The balloon floats higher in the sky.
You breathe in and breathe out.
A deep sense of relaxation and relief fills you.
You take another sandbag.
This one is the sadness you have.
You can feel the heaviness of it.
You decide it's time to let it go and release it from the balloon.
Releasing these burdens feels so refreshing.
You take a moment just to enjoy the view,
Noticing several birds flying by,
Hearing their sounds.
Up ahead,
You see a small pack of deer grazing in the field.
You notice the clouds changing shape,
Floating on by.
The quiet,
The stillness of being in this space fills you from head to toe.
You continue to float in the balloon.
It's time to release another sandbag.
This one is any grudges you hold against others.
You take it in your hand,
Feel the weight,
And know it's time to set it free.
You release it over the balloon.
Let it go.
Within you,
Feelings of forgiveness and calmness fills your soul.
The balloon is drifting higher and slightly faster.
You take your last sandbag in your hand.
This one contains all your fears.
This one is harder to let go of,
But you finally release it.
It falls swiftly from the balloon.
You smile.
The peacefulness fills your entire being as your burdens are released.
In the distance,
You see the open space where the balloon will land.
Gradually,
Slowly,
And oh so gently,
The balloon brings you back to the earth,
Floating down,
Grounded,
Back to the earth.
You feel like a whole person again.
You step out of the balloon carefully and breathe deeply,
Inhaling and exhaling.
You realize you've made it back to a world that has not changed,
But you have.
You've released some of these burdens that have been holding you back,
Holding you back from the life you most want to live.
Gradually,
You come back to the room you're in,
Noticing your feet on the floor,
Feeling the chair beneath you,
Supporting you,
Holding you up,
Noticing your hands,
If they're clenched or relaxed,
Noticing your shoulders,
How they're feeling,
If there's tension or if they're relaxed too.
You gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Bringing your awareness back to this room.
If your eyes are closed,
Slowly blinking your eyes open and look right,
Center,
And then left,
Coming back to center,
Coming back to the present moment,
Back into yourself.
And just notice how you feel after this journey.
Notice how it feels to let go of these burdens and take this feeling with you the rest of your day.
I hope this was helpful for you.
Until next time,
Take care.
