Today I'm going to lead you through a simple yet beautiful meditation.
You can return to this one anytime you need to receive healing,
Peace,
Joy.
This meditation is a visualization technique that will help you to center and receive what you need.
Before we begin,
I would like to acknowledge the generations of people who cultivated the knowledge and practices in the yoga tradition.
These traditions and practices have influenced me and I am grateful that these teachings have become much more mainstream and available for us to incorporate into our spiritual practices.
We will begin today's meditation by focusing on our breath as a means to remind ourselves that we are right here in this present moment.
Begin to let go of your day and your to-do list.
Remind yourself that you are here and now and everything else will still be waiting for you after you finish the meditation.
We will breathe in to the slow count of four and breathe out to the slow count of four.
Inhale two three four.
Exhale two three four.
Inhale two three four.
Exhale two three four.

Continue at your own pace for the next several rounds of breath.
Begin to bring your awareness back to the sound of my voice.
Finding yourself present to this moment.
Take a minute to reflect on what it is that you would like to receive from God today.
If the word God doesn't resonate with you,
You can use the word divine,
Higher self,
Universe,
Love.
Use whatever word resonates for you to describe that transcendent reality.
Perhaps you need to receive healing,
Love,
Joy,
Or peace today.
Sink deeply into yourself and ask yourself what you need today.
Once you've decided what it is that you need to receive,
Choose a color that represents that attribute for you.
As an example,
Years ago I delivered my twins four weeks early and my son required a stay in the NICU.
I decided to use this meditation during one of my visits with him to receive healing for my son and also for myself as I was recovering from the delivery.
At that time I chose to focus on receiving healing and I represented that with the color gold.
Perhaps if you would like to receive peace,
You could choose a calming blue or joy could be represented with a bright yellow.
It's whatever speaks to you.
For me there's nothing magical about this.
It's simply a way to center your mind and your focus and shift your mental energy.
Once you've chosen your attribute and your color,
I'd like you to imagine that you're surrounded by a cloud of that color.
And that cloud contains that attribute that you want to receive today.
Now as you continue to breathe deeply and slowly,
Imagine that with each breath you're inhaling some of that colorful cloud deep into your being.
As you inhale,
It's beginning to transform you with the attribute that you're looking for.
So for me,
As I inhaled that gold cloud,
I was receiving healing from God in that moment.
Again,
I don't find anything magical about this.
It's simply a way to engage in prayer,
Engage in meditation,
While also involving your senses and imagination in a different way.
If you're finding it hard to focus just by breathing,
You could also use an affirmation.
For example,
You could inhale and as you do,
Imagine that color entering your body and you could also repeat to yourself,
I receive healing.
And then as you exhale,
Let go of any stress,
Fear,
Pain,
Whatever it is that's the opposite of what you want to receive today.
I will leave you here for several minutes just to breathe in and breathe out.
And then I will end the meditation with the bell.
