Carolyn'Channeled Chat: Divine Stillness
I go LIVE on Insight Timer to facilitate a Channeled Chat. I receive guidance on the theme and flow in my channel of that topic. This weeks topic is Divine Stillness. Tap into why stillness is so powerful, how to be in stillness, and ways to support yourself holding space in the stillness.
Transcript
Hello,
Hello divine one.
This is Carolyn healings and you are listening to channel chat where each Wednesday I tune in live on insight timer and Instagram and channel a chat about a specific theme.
What you are about to tune into and listen to is the channel chat from April 7 2021.
All about stillness divine stillness.
So wherever you are,
May you enjoy flow and receive exactly what you need and leave whatever you don't.
Finding that peace in your mind in your way.
So yes,
Meditating,
Closing your eyes and going deep in within is a form of stillness that's a form of stillness in your mind.
But not everyone's wired to tap into a stillness state a piece of your mind state piece in your mind state that way.
And sometimes it takes through moving your body to find that peace.
It is through that peace in your mind that you are able to receive the information receive the messages that your soul that your spirit that your higher self,
Their line guides that God shared you universe shares to you.
Great question,
Sarah.
I don't think I've ever explained that.
Sarah just asked,
First time here,
What does channel chat mean?
Beautiful question.
So I receive a channel,
A download and I flow with that.
I've received downloads on what the themes are this month on Wednesdays.
And then I opened my channel to God to light to my guides to connect with those that are showing up here.
The information that comes through me,
It comes through me.
It's not from me,
It's through me.
That's my channel,
My channel chat and we're all here chatting in a community.
I'm all about holding community space.
I'm all about holding safe,
Sacred space.
Everybody is welcome here,
No matter what your background is,
No matter what you believe.
This is a safe space for you to explore,
Uncover and discover more parts of you.
Do your true self.
Take what you need from these chats and leave what's not right for you.
Yeah.
So Mondays I do Oracle card pull for the week and then Wednesdays we do channel chats and Fridays I do guided healings.
Yeah,
So our channel chat today,
The theme is stillness,
Right?
So if you are showing up today,
There's something that your spirit is wanting,
Is wanting you to hear and wanting you to receive.
So what's always great about the spaces that I hold is I invite you to have discernment.
Like I said,
Again,
Take what you need,
Leave what you don't.
There's something here.
If you're showing up here today,
Whether you're watching the replay or watching live,
There's something that's going to uncover and unfold for you.
Yeah.
Cool.
So,
Um,
I do hold an offer one-on-one session.
So I saw someone asking about specific messages.
That's I don't hold that space here on the lives.
You can connect with me.
Um,
One-on-one if you're interested in that,
But here we're talking about stillness.
So in the space of stillness,
And I believe what was coming forward for those that voted on this channel chat was they're wanting to know how to tap into that piece,
That space.
And it is very much similar to creating and developing a muscle.
So I did mention that there's finding that piece like through hiking,
Through movement,
Through,
Um,
Sports,
Athletics,
Through music,
People meditate and find peace in their mind when they play music,
When they write,
When they're creative,
When you're creative,
There's that flow.
You're in that flow.
When I'm creative,
I get downloads all the time.
Yoga,
Same thing.
You're,
You're focusing your mind on one specific thing.
And that's what brings that stillness.
So specifically for stillness in meditation.
So sitting or laying down and being in just a being state,
Your mind isn't used to not doing things.
We are conditioned in our culture,
In our society to always be doing something.
The mind wants to always prepare you to live,
To survive.
And so a part of that stillness space is you removing your attachment to the thoughts that the mind's having.
Rather being the observer of those thoughts,
Let the mind go in the back seat in its car seat with some chips and let the mind just be.
You have the power to discern and choose to be the observer.
Now here's the key point being gentle a F on yourself when your mind comes sneaking back in,
Grabs the driver's seat and starts driving again,
Gentle a F because it is basically like you learning how to go from not moving to crawling,
To crawling,
To walking.
And so if you shame yourself for your mind doing what it thinks it needs to do to survive,
You're going to continue to butt heads with yourself and it's going to make you not want to ever sit down in stillness again.
You're going to resist it because you're going to be shaming yourself.
So that's why in the practices that the guided meditations I hold,
I ask you to turn down your analyzer,
Turn down your judgment.
Sometimes I'll have you turn on your inner critic,
Turn up your compassion,
Turn up your unconditional self love.
Because it's in those spaces of stillness that you get to almost like magnify and create the version of yourself that you desire to be and a frequency desire to emulate and setting yourself up for success.
So sometimes if I'm in a growth period,
If I'm in a growth period and I'm moving through some wounds,
Moving through triggers and traumas,
Because guess what?
It's an infinite experience in evolution and journey.
So I continue to go through that myself.
Sometimes I don't want to be still.
I'd rather just be in the pain because I have to still like feel it all or whatever.
And so I set myself up for success and I say,
All right,
Carolyn,
This is where I step into my inner cheerleader,
My inner healer,
My inner coach steps in,
Looks me in the eye in the mirror and says,
Okay,
Carolyn,
How about we just do 20 minutes?
This is also a part of reparenting yourself.
So my inner parent steps in,
Looks me in the eye and say,
Hey,
Let's just do 20 seconds.
Okay.
I can do 20 seconds.
So the inner rebel in me can do 20 seconds.
The inner mind that wants to just wander and wander and wander can do 20 seconds,
Right?
Yeah.
20 seconds.
Give yourself,
Set yourself up for success.
Taking a breath.
Sometimes I set a timer and I just be for 20 seconds.
Whatever thoughts come up,
I let them come up.
Just let them go.
When you catch yourself going in a spiral of the thoughts,
Notice,
Give yourself praise all over the place for catching yourself,
Noticing it and reverting back to your stillness.
What I find super helpful is my breath.
My breath I use as an anchor.
I let my focus go to my breath and I reward myself if I catch myself going in a spiral rather than naming the thing I don't want to do.
I name and reward myself for the thing of bringing me myself back.
So what I know for sure,
And I did a channel chat about this a couple of weeks ago of just the evidence and how good evidence can be.
I'm thinking of just some of the comments coming through of when we're in those periods of we're in the eye of the storm,
Having evidence of times that you've gotten out of it and remembering you've gone through something you've been stuck before.
The chances are you have not been stuck your whole life.
There's definitely patterns you've been stuck in your whole life,
But stuck in that way that you're speaking of,
I'm assuming.
So knowing that you've gotten through before that will help in that space.
And the stillness can help your nervous system be like,
Oh,
I don't have to keep going.
Oh,
I can be in trust.
Oh,
I can surrender just for 20 seconds.
I guarantee y'all if you surrender for 20 seconds and just hold space for yourself,
Your inner child is going to feel heard,
Seen and love.
You're going to know a sense of peace like you wouldn't normally know.
And you're going to find clarity sooner.
Because when we try to do things,
When we try to control things,
It doesn't make room or leave space for miracles to happen.
For the universe to flow some gifts to us,
For our guides to communicate with us,
For God to part the sea for us.
Right?
Yeah,
Cleaning can totally cleaning is definitely meditative.
I wouldn't necessarily call it a part of stillness.
I was referring to stillness and meditation interchangeably and was saying there's forms of meditation that can bring stillness to our mind.
So yeah,
Cleaning is definitely a form of a meditative thing because you're focusing on that task and it helps your mind be still.
What I encourage and invite those of you to do that have trouble with just sitting in stillness is let yourself do a little task like cleaning or walking or hiking,
And then just take a minute,
20 seconds to a minute of actually sitting in that stillness and be like,
Okay,
I've done that task.
I've checked that off my list.
And if your mind wants to keep checking things off the list,
Just let it right,
Just let it be like,
Cool,
I just it's just one minute.
And so you can easily tell yourself it's just one minute.
And as that gets easier and easier,
It's gonna eventually get to a point where it's going to be easier to do more than just one minute,
20 seconds to one minute.
It just gives you a sense of trust in yourself of trust that you don't have to control this one minute that you don't have to avoid or distract yourself for this one minute that you're just going to show up for yourself for one minute.
And in that minute,
Compassion,
Gentleness,
Trust,
Stillness,
Or softening and reward when you're when you bring yourself back to center if you go off with the mind.
If you've read untamed,
I'm in the middle of listening to it right now.
Highly recommend that book by Glennon Doyle.
She talks about how she just continued to put herself in her closet,
Shut the door and just sit for 20 minutes.
And be that would have started meditation,
She spoke how it just kept getting easier.
The thoughts,
The to do list would keep running and running.
And then after each time each time it just got easier and easier.
And then it was just a natural state.
And now able to just drop in and be the observer now in all sorts of settings.
When you observe yourself when you hold space to observe yourself,
And be in stillness,
When you're out in public,
When you're in confrontation,
When you're communicating as a parent,
When you're a child communicating with your parent,
You're able to then be and drop in in that same kind of stillness,
But now in the real world,
Because you've practiced it.
You've done the practice,
The game,
The Super Bowl,
The NBA championship is in the public space,
But you're not going to be able to respond or be your true self if you have not found that trueness in the stillness.
What I know is through my own meditation practice through my own observation of my self practice has let me be more present when I'm around the world.
I used to blurt out every thought I ever had.
And I used to just speak without thinking.
Yeah,
Untamed by Glennon Doyle.
I was about to say here it is.
I don't have it.
It's on my phone.
I'm listening to it.
If you're listening audible of because she's the narrator to she's a fantastic narrator.
Yeah,
Absolutely stillness helps with being triggered because when you're still you can get attuned and accustomed to your body's just your body.
I don't know about you,
But when I get triggered I dissociate and so if I help myself be safe in my body in my stillness when I'm triggered I can stay here because I've practiced I've prepared for it.
That's what meditation is.
That's what stillness is it's preparing yourself for the big game and the big game is fucking life.
The big game is everyone and everything that's outside of you.
But if we don't hold space for the inside for our true deeper parts of ourselves to drop into ourselves then we're operating in the world in authentically which is majority of the world.
Okay,
We can do that.
So I'm actually getting a tap to do a little 20 seconds right here right now.
Let's do it because sometimes it can be easier with support and that's why like I used to only do guided meditations when I was first started meditating about five years ago.
Hell yeah,
We have to be selfish.
I know my lessons.
I can't read just thought we have to be selfish.
We have to put our needs first and then only then can we help ourselves.
Amen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So yes,
So I used to only listen to guided meditations when I first started my journey.
And then through the guided meditations,
I was able to tap into like,
Oh,
This is how I do it.
Like I was shown this is how I used to play volleyball.
So I've shown how to play volleyball and then I started playing and then I started coaching.
So if all you need to start with guided meditations is that's what you can do that will help your mind sometimes just music,
Letting your mind focus on the music.
Well,
That was the other point.
I don't know if any of you listen to J Cole.
He's a rapper,
Very conscious rapper.
I love him.
He talked about how he meditates and he just sits in stillness and will focus on one sound.
He'll notice the fan going and then if his mind goes back,
He's like,
Oh,
Nope,
Where's that found fan sound.
So gives your mind something to do.
So that's why music is really helpful.
Gives your mind something to do.
Guided meditation is helpful because it gives your mind that like,
Okay,
We can be cool for a second.
It's through all the BS and weeds.
Yeah.
All right,
Let's do a little practice.
Okay,
So we're gonna do a little practice of maybe a minute.
So this we're just going to practice stillness.
I'm not going to guide you at all.
So again,
Kind of space whether you're laying down,
Even if you're at work and you're listening to this,
You can be still for like 20 seconds.
You can't promise.
No one's gonna notice.
Okay,
You can close your eyes for that long.
I'll let you know.
I'll ring a bell.
So get settled for a moment.
I'm keeping track of the time.
We're just going to do one minute and I invite you to use your breath as an anchor.
Use your breath as an anchor.
Let your mind focus on your breath or let your mind focus on a sound.
And just remind yourself you're just being here.
Sometimes repeating the word peace in your mind or repeating an affirmation in your mind.
It's just holding space for yourself.
You're worth it.
You're so worth it.
Okay,
We're gonna start in just a moment.
Close your eyes.
I'm gonna ring this bell when it's been one minute.
It's One minute of stillness.
Wasn't so hard,
Right?
Sometimes giving your senses.
.
.
Awesome,
George.
Sometimes giving your senses something to focus on.
Keeping her eyes open and staring at something enjoyable.
Noticing what you taste,
Noticing what you smell.
I keep wanting to fidget,
That's okay.
I'm also very kinesthetic,
I'm very clairsentient,
So I feel things and I want to also fidget a lot.
Just the observation of,
Oh,
I want to fidget.
Okay.
Maybe let yourself fidget.
Maybe,
Okay,
I'm going to move this and then I'm going to come here for 10 more seconds.
I'll move a little bit again and then just 10 more seconds.
When you give your mind,
Your body that we're only here for a couple moments and this is for us,
Reminding your body,
Reminding your mind,
This is for you reaching an optimal evolution of yourself.
Beautiful,
Sarah.
Perfect.
Yeah.
Bringing your attention to your breath,
Letting that fidget,
That's you being in your power.
Hell yeah.
Snaps to you,
Sarah.
Noticing you want to fidget,
But you keep coming back to your breath.
That was you telling your body like,
No,
No,
No.
You're not in the driver's seat.
I am.
Hell yeah.
That's awesome.
When breathing,
I had to say in and out.
Beautiful.
Excellent.
Beautiful.
All these little tips,
All these little tools are exactly what you need to.
.
.
It's the part of the building of the muscle.
Like y'all,
A lot of us are just at our two pound dumbbells.
That's all we can do right now.
We're not ready to do full pull-ups yet.
Be where you are.
Meet yourself where you are and know that you're going to keep building.
I used to literally only be able to do a couple moments of stillness without music or guided meditation.
I used to only be able to do guided meditations.
I now can do a full hour and a half meditation.
Not always.
I don't always want to do it.
I can't always do it,
But it's a buildup of that.
And you've got to just meet yourself where you are.
There's no perfect way to do it.
There's no right way to do it.
There's no wrong way to do it.
There might be a wrong way to do it.
Yes,
Helen,
I see you.
How did that feel?
So I'm just going to share,
Helen said,
I took your advice and praise myself for going back to my breath.
Positive reinforcement,
Baby.
Because how often do we have our shame going off in our mind?
How often do we shame ourselves for shaming ourselves?
How often do we tell ourselves we're doing it wrong?
Like that doesn't help us get better,
Right?
It doesn't.
Yeah.
It's just that those little shifts that actually wastes so much more energy when we focus on the negatives that we're doing or that we're doing things wrong.
Now you can notice,
Oh,
I'm doing that.
And oh,
Congratulations to me.
Here's a cookie.
Here's a treat.
You notice yourself for doing it.
I have a funny video.
It might be on my YouTube.
Is it on my YouTube?
I posted on my Instagram a while ago when I was first training my dog a couple of years ago,
I made this like explosion,
Like,
Oh,
I always give him a treat when he does the thing I want him to do.
Let me do that to myself too.
Reinforcement.
Pasta reinforcement.
Oh,
Interesting.
Okay.
So what I'm being shown,
Especially this,
I think it's coming from stuff that was people bringing up in the comments earlier,
But specifically with those growth periods,
With those periods of big change of it,
Not feeling like yourself,
Or there's just a big movement and shifts happening.
So our body and our mind want to get back to comfort as quickly as possible.
We want to get through it as quickly as possible,
Right?
If you're able to hold in stillness of just this energy that you're moving through,
If you can hold it in an energy for one minute of just like,
Yes,
This is where you are.
You're here.
You don't have to run away from it.
You can handle hard things.
That's a quote from Untamed.
We can do hard things.
That's a quote.
And you almost like stepping into your sacred,
Sacred,
Divine,
Masculine and feminine.
That's a whole nother channel chat topic.
But you being strong enough to say,
Yeah,
I see I'm in this and you being compassionate enough and nurturing enough,
Emotionally intelligent enough to just sit with it.
You don't have to fix it.
In that stillness moment,
In that one minute of stillness,
You don't have to fix anything.
You just got to be there with it.
It's like a kid having a tantrum because emotions are big and they don't know how to express rather than tell the kid to shut up or to stop crying or shame the kid.
Just recognizing like,
Yeah,
Stuff's it's tough right now.
And we're just going to hold this for a moment,
One minute.
Just hold that space for a moment for yourself.
You're so worth it.
You're so worth it.
You don't have to fix it.
You don't have to run away from it.
You don't have to avoid it.
Just in this one minute,
Just be with you.
That's why my meditations on Fridays are titled Just Be.
We'll just be.
Awesome.
Thank you,
