Have you heard Adele's new song?
Wow!
It's called Go Easy on Me.
Good morning everybody,
Kara Bradley here bringing you another morning message.
I heard this song,
I don't know,
A few weeks ago on YouTube.
I couldn't believe there were already 4 million views.
The title of the song is Go Easy on Me and immediately,
Immediately as soon as I saw the title,
My heart opened.
And of course in her genius,
In her beauty,
She just delivers,
You know,
In her mastery,
Her songwriting,
Her elegance.
But what the song really captures for me,
And of course,
You know,
I looked at the lyrics and they're very based in a love story,
Of course,
Because that really,
You know,
Grabs our attention.
But it could be so much broader in meaning.
Go Easy on Me.
It struck me so clearly,
So quickly,
The overwhelming need for us to be kind to ourselves.
Go Easy on Me.
What a beautiful,
Beautiful saying.
It reminds me of something I've talked about many times on this podcast.
Those,
The teaching from my teacher Scott McBride,
There there sweetheart,
Offering yourself that bit of gentle love,
That softness,
That kindness,
That generosity towards yourself.
This practice of loving kindness has done its job on me over the last decade or so.
You know,
We're not,
We're not taught it in our culture.
It's nobody's fault.
It's just happened over decades,
Thousands of years,
Who knows.
But this,
This idea of going easy on ourselves doesn't mean letting ourselves off the hook,
But just being generous,
Softer,
Lighter,
Kinder.
And guess what happens?
We start to do it out there.
And so when I was talking to my husband about this song,
One,
And I was talking to my daughter as well about this,
Immediately they both felt the same thing.
Wow.
What would happen if we would just go easier on each other?
Go Easy on Me.
I think about it.
You know,
When you're feeling that tension,
That pushback,
The judgment,
Whatever it is that separates you from other,
To remind yourself,
And I've been practicing this,
Go easy on them.
Just go easy.
Just go easy.
What if women would go easier on other women in particular?
Wow.
My good friend,
Caroline Adams Miller,
Just wrote a book called,
Hashtag I've Got Your Back,
And I just reviewed it.
And something that she is really,
And I am really passionate about,
Is helping women,
Helping each other,
Go easier on each other.
Because in general,
We don't.
We're very,
Very hard on each other.
Why not support each other and amplify each other as well?
And I think we can do that when we start to go easier on each other.
And just to recognize we're all just sorting this out.
We're all just sorting it out.
So tread lightly.
Go easy.
There,
There sweetheart.
Recognizing when we do this,
It starts with us.
It opens us.
It opens our heart.
It starts to dissolve the walls between each other,
Between human to human.
It starts to make the world just a little bit softer,
A little bit kinder.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
How does it land for you?
Go easy on me.
I will tell you that beginning a loving-kindness practice,
I write about this in my book,
Be Kind,
The different ways for us to be kind to ourselves,
Just talking to ourselves with a gentler voice,
Talking to ourselves in a way that we would speak to our dog or pet,
A young child.
Call it the love object voice.
But just being kinder,
Softer toward ourselves,
It really is the key.
It's the key to then opening up and living in this world in a whole new way.
I hope this was helpful.
I've been carrying this song with me for the last few weeks and just felt the need to share it with you.
Let me know if it lands.
Reach out to me.
I am getting more and more emails from you guys.
I absolutely love it.
And as you know,
I answer everyone.
Finally,
If you find value in this podcast,
Please leave a review.
Figure it out.
A couple of people have said,
I don't even know how to do that.
Just look on your podcast app.
There's a place.
And or share it with a friend.
Say,
Hey,
You might like this too.
That's going to help us reach more people.
And honestly,
For me,
It's just about serving and tapping.
This is how the world goes my friend.
Thanks again for listening.
Have a fantastic day.
