My name is Candy Foster and I'd love to help you drift into a restful night's sleep tonight.
Sleep is such a huge contributor to our overall wellness,
So it's important to create a good practice with an evening routine that starts to bring your energy levels down as you approach your time to retire.
I am honored to be part of your practice this evening and I hope this meditation can assist in your sleep journey every evening.
If you drift off before the meditation is complete,
Do not worry.
Just allow your sleep to settle in.
I always suggest getting ready for and getting comfortable in your bed so that when you drift off,
You can stay in your slumber.
So let's begin.
Please settle into your bed and allow your whole body to relax.
Observe the true comfort of your bed.
Enjoy the feeling of your covers,
Embracing every curve of your body,
Making you cozy and warm.
Feel the comfort of your pillow forming to the curve of your neck with full supportive comfort.
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
Allow it to fill your lungs,
Your belly.
As you release that breath,
Let out thoughts that may be hindering your relaxation.
Feel how the covers move softly with the movement of your body.
Take another deep breath in and allow the belly to expand.
Release fully through the mouth once more.
Take one more deep breath,
Fully filling the lungs and the belly.
Then let it all go out through the mouth.
Now just settle into a softer,
Gentler,
More natural breath.
Following it in and out with your mind.
Letting go of any thoughts lingering from the day with each exhalation.
As you breathe,
Let those thoughts just drift by.
As they do,
Release any attachment to them and just observe the passing.
Now if you're already anticipating tasks and things for tomorrow,
Let's take a moment to imagine your day unfolding and the time you will make throughout the day.
I'm bringing you right back to here and now.
Imagine every task going smoothly,
Every conversation with pleasure.
And every event turning out just as you imagined it would be better.
As you feel the contentment of tomorrow unfolding in,
It's perfect.
Notice you relaxed.
Notice how relaxed you are.
You've released your entire weight to the bed.
Your muscles are so relaxed.
The tension in your chest is gone.
The tension everywhere is gone.
Continue to follow the breath.
As you start to drift off to sleep in peaceful dreams.
