So I invite you to relax,

Close your eyes.

Just relax and begin to notice the support in this moment now.

So relax your head,

Allow it to fall into your neck,

The support of that.

And relax your shoulders,

Just let them fall.

Notice the support.

It's okay.

Just let the tension drop.

Relax your chest and your belly.

And your thighs.

Everything falling into the support of the surface that holds you and what holds that.

And that.

And relax your knees and your feet and toes.

And move attention to the breath.

The breath you do nothing for,

Just flowing in and out.

That support.

And as you focus on the breath,

Give it a color.

So it's easy to follow in.

Just follow it in and out.

How far reaching.

And in and out.

Focus on the breath.

If you should notice that you are no longer focused on the breath,

What story moved you from the breath?

What focus was it changed for that?

Notice the story that moved or the idea or judgment or concepts or images that moved your focus from the breath.

And give it a first generation name.

And give that idea an image that encompasses the entire identity of the moment that moved you from breath.

And watch as it begins to move out of sight.

Smaller and smaller.

Going back to where it came from.

And then gently just flow attention back to the breath.

Follow the breath.

Focus on the breath.

Notice.

Where was your attention when you heard the word notice?

What story were you experiencing?

Identify it.

Give it a name and a picture.

As it begins to move out of sight,

Thank it for sharing its life with you,

Its entire life with you.

As it moves out of sight.

Going back to where it came from.

Going,

Going.

Getting smaller and smaller.

And flow attention back to the breath.

Back to the beingness.

Present.

Supported.

Here now.

And serve the breath.

Follow the breath.

And move out of sight.

Notice.

Where was your attention when you heard the word notice?

Notice.

Where was your attention when you heard the word notice?

Notice.

Notice.

What story were you experiencing when you heard the word notice?

Identify it.

And it doesn't matter if there are a thousand or a million or five or two.

Just notice one.

Give it a first generation name,

Like a title to a movie.

And a picture.

Like the cover of a book.

And respectfully thank it for sharing its life with you as it begins to go back to where it came from.

Going,

Going.

Getting smaller and smaller.

And gently come back to the breathed one.

Present.

One.

Supported.

Being.

Present.

Humane.

Human being.

Humane.

Being.

Here now.

Breathe.

And simply follow the breath.

Humane.

Humane.

Notice.

Notice the story or stories that were running when you heard the word notice.

Identify the story.

Was it past,

Future?

Name it.

What story of not now?

Appeared to be named,

Identified.

Thank for the life.

The appearance of life it brings.

The illusion.

Give it a first generation picture.

A name.

And watch as it moves out of sight.

Going back to where it came from.

And return attention to the breath.

To the present being.

Humane being.

And follow the breath.

Humane.

Humane.

Humane.

Humane.

Teaches a simple but powerful method of noticing, naming, and thanking the stories that we tell ourselves.

So great to have this sweet star on Insight Timer. One thing tripped me up in this: What is a first generation name?

What I loved about this is what I was noticing when not present. Very telling. Insightful.

Thanks I like the way you made wandering thoughts part of the meditation rather than failures. Letting them go by recognizing them and naming them.

I found this meditation to be supremely helpful for noticing and releasing anxiety- it does end sort of abruptly without warning, so just be ready to ease your own way out of it.
