Once you are aware of a feeling,

Let it come up,

Stay with it,

And let it run its course without wanting to make it different or do anything about it.

It means just letting the feeling be there without resistance,

No venting,

No fearing it,

No condemning it or moralizing about it,

Not labeling it,

Not judging it,

Just seeing that it is just a feeling.

Ignore your thoughts about the feeling.

Focus on the feeling itself.

The thoughts are endless and self-reinforcing and only breed more similar thoughts,

Merely trying to rationalize the presence of the feeling.

All thoughts are resistance.

Be with the feeling and surrender all efforts to modify it in any way.

Let go of wanting to resist the feeling.

It is resistance that keeps the feeling going.

Let it run its course.

Witness the feeling,

Not from judgment,

But from curiosity.

How does the feeling make your body feel?

What does it do?

How does it move?

View the feeling as an energy without a label.

It will be very obvious when you are done and the feeling has been released.

You will become overwhelmed with peace,

Bursting with light,

Joyous without reason.

You might even forget what triggered the feeling in the first place,

Or anything that has ever made you feel that way at all.

Don't try to force up feelings.

Think of feelings like trying to feed a bird.

Chasing it will only make it fly away.

Keep an open hand and it will come when it comes.

The really cool thing about focusing on your feelings and then letting them go,

Rather than thinking your way out of them,

Is that the mind is categorized by feelings.

Think of a filing system in your mind where you have a heartbroken box.

Your heartbroken box in your mind is filled with a lifetime of things that have made you heartbroken.

Picking up every single file and using your mind to rationalize it out of the box would take ages,

And you might never make your way to the guilt box,

Or the shame box,

Or the pride box.

Whereas when you focus on your heartbreak as an emotion and let it go,

There is no longer a heartbroken box at all.

All those files that were stored there no longer hold an emotional charge.

When continuing this technique,

You will realize you can stay in a state of loving freedom.

Your feelings are a powerful guidance system,

But you are not your feelings.

Feelings come and go,

And the real you is just witnessing them,

Feeling them,

Being grateful for their guidance.
