We're going to go deeper into self-love today and the quality of love that I'd like us to go into today is that of encouragement.

If you're anything like most human beings,

We're good with encouraging other people and cheering them on and guiding them with affirming words and then when it comes to ourselves,

We often use rather discouraging words.

So let's rewire that a bit,

Shall we?

So finding a posture that feels good and upright and relaxed and closing your eyes.

Settling into your present moment experience,

Particularly into the space of the heart where love originates,

That space of the heart that is unconditional and kind and vast and encouraging.

It's always like the wind beneath our wings.

It's always saying,

Yes,

You're doing great.

Keep going.

Never give up.

So whether you are a long time meditator or this is literally the first time you've ever closed your eyes and attempted to sit still,

We always need encouragement.

We always need someone who believes in us,

Who sees us.

What if that someone is you?

What if you become your best friend right now?

Your cheerleader,

Including about the journey of meditation.

Yes,

It might be bumpy and we might run into a bunch of thoughts and it might be uncomfortable,

But we're not going to give up.

We're going to believe in ourselves.

We're going to speak encouraging words like keep going.

You're doing great.

So if we're settling into our intention to be available to the action and presence of grace and to be taken into a more silent or still place,

Then there might be just a barrage of thoughts and we might be carried away by them into the future,

Into the past.

And when we notice,

We'll just come back to our intention to be available to grace,

To be taken into stillness.

And if we get discouraged by how many times this happens,

We'll just encourage ourselves.

Keep going,

Sweetheart.

You're doing great.

You take that spirit of encouragement with you now into your silent meditation.

If that's what you're doing,

Then pause me and turn me back on when you're ready to come out.

And just before we open our eyes,

Just sensing that inner friend,

That cheerleader,

That part inside of us that sees us,

That sees our goodness,

That trusts our goodness and tells us,

Yes,

You can.

You're doing great.

Keep going and never give up.

Whatever happens,

Never give up on that dream,

That vision,

That knowing of who you really are.

And we just allow ourselves to open our eyes and receive everything we see and just be with that.

What if everything around us and everything we're going to meet today is really for us?

What if I trust that actually everybody loves me?

I just don't expect them to realize that yet.

What if I look for that today,

For the way that people encourage me?

And if they don't,

I encourage myself until they realize that that's really what they want to do.

And what if I give that to others too?

If I engage today just in the spirit of encouragement.

That's my wish for you today.
