Welcome,
My name is Julia and I'll be guiding you through today's practice.
When was the last time you thanked your money?
We spend so much time with our money,
Ask so much of it,
Always asking,
Rarely if ever reciprocating.
If you had a friend like that,
Would you want to hang out with them?
That one person that you avoid because they're so needy,
They take everything,
And they give nothing in return?
Let's change that.
Starting off in any position that you're comfortable in.
To get the most out of this practice,
I'd advise not doing anything else while you're listening.
Taking a full breath in,
And out.
Giving yourself a little shift,
A wiggle,
Or a movement to settle in,
To find comfort.
If you're holding on to any tension,
Playing around with releasing it.
Even if it's just 10% less.
Dropping the shoulders,
Releasing the jaw,
Unclenching your abdominal muscles.
Allowing your hands to rest,
Open,
And ready to receive.
How are you feeling in this moment?
Observing any emotions or sensations within your body as you breathe here.
Taking a breath in through the nose,
And a long breath out through the mouth.
Expressing any sighs or sounds that might come up.
Let's begin by bringing to mind a bill that you've recently paid,
Or one that's coming up soon.
Maybe it's rent or a mortgage,
Your phone plan,
Your electric bill,
A grocery run,
Insurance,
A haircut,
A therapy session.
Just bringing one bill to mind.
Asking yourself,
How do I feel about giving my money to pay these bills?
Just noticing,
No judgment here.
Only awareness of whatever's going on in your emotions,
And in your body.
For many of us,
Money and bill paying can feel heavy.
It's often tangled up with old narratives,
Like there's never enough,
I'm always behind.
Money is stressful to manage.
People with money are greedy,
Or the more money I have,
The more problems I have.
We learn these ideas from our families,
Our friends,
Our acquaintances,
From media and society.
Your mom only shopping the clearance section when you were a child?
Yeah,
That stuck.
So did your coworker asking how you could possibly afford that on your salary.
The news talking about how much you'll need for retirement.
All of these ideas swirling around our heads about money.
It's no wonder that paying for things can cause friction.
Now,
Imagining the service or the experience that this bill you brought to mind provided for you,
In depth.
Sometimes bills are for pleasurable experiences,
But more often than not,
They're for a necessity,
Or even something we find unpleasant.
But let's frame things a little bit differently.
Thinking of this bill,
This service or experience that you received.
How cool is it that you get to pay your electrical company so that you're able to light your home,
Keep your food chilled,
Watch TV at the end of a long day?
That you get to pay your landlord or your mortgage company so that you have a safe place to shelter yourself,
To provide warmth or cooling,
To unwind and spend time doing things you love,
Hopefully with people you love.
That you get to pay your internet provider for connecting you with this amazing world,
For allowing you to work from home,
To chat with friends and colleagues,
And to listen to this meditation.
That you get to pay your grocer for nourishing your body,
Giving you the strength and the energy to do what you need to.
That you get to pay your medical providers for caring for your body when it needs attention,
For getting yourself to even better health.
And if the bill that you brought to mind was slightly more enjoyable than any of these things,
Calling in those emotions.
Realizing in detail exactly what paying this bill has provided for you,
Recognizing the proof that money has supported you in some way.
Now,
I want you to picture that money leaving your bank account and flowing outwards,
In whatever way feels best.
Sending it out like a river,
Circulating,
Flowing,
But not disappearing.
There's always a volume of that.
Flowing into the lives of others,
Supporting the systems that support you.
If you feel like the money is going to a big,
Faceless corporation,
Maybe like your insurance provider,
Remembering that even these huge corporations are made up of individual people.
People just like you,
Who get to support themselves,
Their families,
And their communities through their work.
Bringing to mind all of these lives that you get to impact just by paying this one bill.
For each bill,
Your impact just multiplies.
Exchanging wealth,
Receiving what you need in return.
How cool is that?
Continuing to breathe as you bring this all to mind.
Now,
Let's start making things flow a little bit more easily.
Shifting ourselves into a space of gratitude for all things that this money has provided.
All of the proof that we have that this money has provided.
Bringing to mind a time when you happily paid for something,
Or someone else paid for something that you enjoyed.
Buying a present,
Receiving a present,
Treating yourself or someone you loved to something just because.
How did spending that money make you feel?
Feeling those emotions now,
Bringing that joy,
Happiness,
Gratitude,
Pleasure to mind.
These feelings,
This sensation,
That's the energy of money.
The energy of having enough,
Of knowing that there is always more where that came from.
The joy of receiving or of sharing.
The communities that we build as we share this energy.
Money was there for you through this positive experience.
It's also there for you as you pay your bills.
Proving to you,
Time and again,
That you are enough.
Even when you don't think that money is enough.
Repeating after me,
Either out loud or in your head.
I have always had enough money.
I have enough money.
I will always have enough money.
Money is meant for me.
To have,
To hold,
To share,
To circulate.
I am so blessed to be able to pay these bills.
To know that by exchanging this money,
I have received something in return.
That in sharing this money,
I am able to give something back in return.
To help my doctor's receptionist buy her lunch.
To help my nail tech pay for college.
To help the grocery cashier buy their son clothing.
Because money is energy.
And energy is meant to be circulated.
I am so fortunate to be able to circulate this energy.
To be able to tap into the abundance that surrounds me.
And to receive in return.
Thank you money.
Thank you for nourishing me,
For sheltering me,
For hydrating me,
For feeding me.
For caring for me,
For dressing me,
For making me look the way I want.
For connecting me with others.
For allowing me to gain knowledge and opportunities.
For allowing me to share and to help others.
For always supporting me even when I haven't been supportive of you.
Money is not disappearing.
It's circulating.
Like a river.
Circulating,
Always moving.
Flowing into the lives of others.
Supporting the systems that support you.
Every time that you pay a bill,
Purchase an item,
Make a donation,
You are participating in money's natural flow.
The exchange of giving and receiving.
Sometimes that particular exchange might seem one-sided.
But trust that what goes out comes back around.
And when we release that tight hold on what we receive,
Trust that it comes back even faster and multiplied.
Removing that dam,
That construction that we place on the flow of paying our bills.
Allowing that money to simply flow as it's meant to,
Without limitation.
Repeating out loud or to yourself,
I am supported.
I am resourced.
Money flows to me and from me to support my life.
I have always had enough.
I have enough.
And I know that I will always have enough.
Thank you,
Money.
I trust in you and I am grateful for you.
Pausing here for a few rounds of breath.
Soaking in that energy of trust and gratitude.
Basking in these feelings.
Whenever you're ready,
Gently shifting back to this moment.
Giving yourself a gentle wiggle or a shake to return.
Keeping that energy of abundance within you.
Thank you so much for joining me.
