Transcript

Hello.

In this meditation we're going to explore the concept of what it means to be grounded.

If you take the tree,

Tall,

Strong,

Proud,

Its form blows in the wind.

It's flexible to the forces that are exerted on it,

Yet it still remains still,

Grounded,

Connected.

This is primarily because of the root system.

What you see in terms of the leaves,

The branches,

The twigs,

Above the ground,

Are equaled and mirrored in the way the roots are grown into the earth and offer that support from the below.

You can use this as a metaphor in many ways,

But the way that you are also connected to the earth.

When we are,

We stand tall,

And just like the tree,

Are able to blow and be blown,

To bend and remould back to our original form,

Using our roots as a grounding constant.

Not only are we grounded,

But we're also supported by the earth,

The mother,

And that polarity that exists below us.

If we take time to nourish these roots,

These roots will always take time to nourish us.

So if you're sitting comfortably,

You'd like to close your eyes,

Just take one deep breath in through the nose,

And out through the mouth.

Do this another two times,

Just to bring us to a state where we can begin the meditation.

And again.

Really letting go of any stress on the out-breath.

Finally a third time,

After which I'll sound the bow and we'll begin a short visualisation.

So drawing your attention inward,

Asking your body how does it feel.

Taking note of any feelings that your body shows you.

Calmly saying hello to them,

Acknowledging them,

And using the breath as a guide.

If you have your feet on the floor,

Just bringing your attention to the soles of your feet.

If you're sat on the floor,

Just bringing your attention to the base of your spine.

Grouting sapling now,

From the base of the spine or the soles of your feet.

We're going to start to grow our roots down into the earth.

Slowly at first,

The roots go earthward.

Passing into the earth,

Like a rooted web.

As they spread down,

They also spread outwards,

Like a fractal pattern,

Growing from your body down into the earth.

With each one grows another and another and another,

And so it goes.

Until our roots spread wide and as wide as far as they go down.

Whilst this happens,

You also get a sense of your consciousness expanding into this root system.

As you are in your body,

But your energy is also in these roots.

And you are able to feel through this new system that you are growing.

This goes on as we go deeper into the earth,

Until at some point we become aware of a light.

And we see that our roots are being drawn towards this light to connect with it.

Ask yourself now,

With whatever comes into your head first,

Guided by your intuition,

What colour is this light for you?

Notice it.

Notice perhaps how this colour makes you feel.

Sending your roots now towards this light,

They are naturally drawn to its energy,

Further and further.

Until they connect.

Being accepted by this light,

And feeling this grounding connection,

Your roots connect here to be nourished.

You feel this connection to your roots with the light,

And you are anchored here.

Just take a moment of silence just to experience this for yourself.

Now,

As we breathe,

We can breathe this light back up through our roots into our body.

And I welcome you to try this now.

Breathing this light upwards,

Through our roots,

Through the connections we've made to the earth,

Welcoming this energy,

This love and this intent to be connected.

Towards the surface now,

We breathe it up.

And then first into the soles of our feet,

Through our legs and our knees and our thighs,

Up to our hips,

To the bottom of our backs and our spine,

Up through our lower back and our organs,

Our kidneys,

Our liver,

Our stomach,

To the middle of our backs and our heart centre,

And our shoulders and the front of our chests,

Down the top of our arms,

Through our elbows,

Into our hands and our fingers,

Into our neck and the back of our neck and our throat and our head and our forehead and our eyes,

And then just one final breath in,

Allowing this light to come through into the top of our crown and shower around us,

Sealing our aura,

Knowing that we are grounded and protected by our loving light.

And now,

Just as we did at the beginning,

Just taking a few moments of silence,

Just to ask our body again,

How does it feel?

Now,

Noticing any change,

I welcome you to give thanks.

Thanks to the earth,

Thanks to this experience and thanks to yourself for making the time and giving the intent back to you for your benefit in this moment.

I'm just going to sound the bell again and I welcome you to let the sound wash over you,

Like a bath or at least a quick shower.

As you've taken this time now,

As you awaken slowly,

Breathing in and feeling your hands and wiggling your toes perhaps,

Use the sound to leave you refreshed,

Zingy and zesty for the rest of your day.

Absolutely divine. I am finding difficulty in being grounded and feeling a sense of connection to anything really. I feel so distant from myself and I feel like I am not worthy of the earth and it's beauty and energy but this makes me feel like I am. Like I am part of this earth and me being grounded is essential for me to better this earth and better myself. Thank you for this and I will continue doing it everyday so my roots can grow stronger and I can appreciate my own light deep within me.
