In many of my meditations I talk about feelings,
Projections of the mind,
The sense of separation and so on.
In this meditation I want to talk more about projections and feelings because so often it is unclear why or how we project.
So anytime you get triggered by something or someone in your day to day life,
You can then make space to process what happened in that moment.
And as you sit with the emotion,
You can ask yourself,
How old is this feeling that I am processing?
Sometimes you will not get any answer,
But more often than not,
You will see a specific occurrence from your childhood or teenage life or later that has arisen again in the moment of reaction and projection.
And by doing so,
By feeling that feeling,
By understanding where it comes from,
You can see clearly that it is not about the other person,
It is about what you are feeling in that moment,
About what they have triggered in you from your past.
It is a beautiful practice that can help you reconnect with your inner child and also help your relationship with parents or with extended family,
Friends and colleagues by helping you see what happened clearly,
Understand where the other person came from at the time,
Understand that you couldn't see everything back then and that this feeling that you are now processing has taught you all that it had to teach you,
So you can now let it go.
It is a great way to rest as awareness or to re-parent your inner child,
To show it love,
Compassion,
Understanding,
To show that you are there for your younger self,
That what he or she did was perfect,
That your love is unconditional and that this past occurrence didn't affect or change who you are in essence.
You remain whole,
Complete,
All-allowing and all-embracing.
When you do this practice of asking how old is this feeling often,
You will see your relationship with yourself and as a result your relationship with others change,
Grow and evolve for the better.
Thank you for listening.
