Welcome to this guided Yoga Nedra meditation on Tripura Sundari,

Divine Mother Goddess.

Tripura Sundari is the consort of Lord Shiva and one of the ten wisdom goddesses in Vedanta.

She bears the name beauty of the three worlds.

These three worlds are waking,

Dreaming and deep sleep states of consciousness.

In Yoga Nedra we seek to go beyond these three,

These three states,

Into that which is the fourth or known as Turiya.

Tripura Sundari meets us here as the beauty of pure perception and knowing.

She is the Divine Love which is at the centre of the spiritual heart.

In this Yoga Nedra meditation I will guide you to bring your awareness to certain points on the body and I will be doing chanting on the chakras.

So come to lie comfortably on the floor,

On a yoga mat or rug,

On your bed or even on a chair,

Wherever is comfortable for you.

If you can,

Allow the palms to face up,

The arms alongside the body with about a 15 degree angle between the arms and the chest.

If there is any pain in the low back,

Any discomfort,

Then place the feet hip width apart otherwise keep the legs together,

Allowing the feet to fall out sideways.

Cover with a blanket if you think you might get cold and place a soft pillow underneath the head.

If there is any neck pain or discomfort,

Any cervical spondylosis,

Any degeneration of the neck,

Then roll up cloth and place it underneath the neck.

If you have high anxiety,

Insomnia,

Stress,

If you are in shock or just have a lot of tension in your system,

Then take a cloth or a small face cloth or towel and place it over your eyes so that it goes all the way around the head.

So once you've found your comfortable position,

Just begin to let go.

So let's begin.

Om So as you're resting in this comfortable position,

Allow your eyes to close gently from the outer edges to the inner,

Treating the eyelids and the eyes like petals of a flower,

Gently closing the eyes.

Make sure your spine is straight and both halves of the body are equally positioned in relation to your midline,

Your spine.

Make sure your head isn't tilting to either side and it's not tilting upward but is evenly placed.

So now come to feel the support that you have from the surface that you're sitting on or lying on.

Feel the support and begin to settle and soften.

Let the weight of your body settle down and become still.

Notice any sounds in the room or outside or in the distance.

And begin to have a felt sense of your body as you are just in this moment.

You might be holding tension.

You might be straining.

Just be with what is right now.

Bring your awareness to your navel and can you soften here?

Just begin to soften this area,

The navel,

Expanding into your abdomen,

Softening,

Softening the muscles and the tissue here in the abdomen.

Now move your awareness to your facial muscles.

Bring your awareness to your forehead and just begin to relax here.

Bring your awareness to your temples,

Cheekbones,

The jaw,

The upper and the lower jaw.

Allow the tongue to rest on the lower palate and soften the whole face,

Releasing any tension.

Release the eyebrows and release back down.

Also begin to notice the flow of the breath and sometimes the very mention of focusing on the breathing can make us feel anxiety,

Can make us feel as though we want to grip the breath.

We want to hold,

We want to change.

Just feel the flow of your breathing,

This cleansing flow of the inhalation and exhalation.

As we inhale,

We nourish the body and as we exhale,

We cleanse the body.

Just notice this flow of inhalation and exhalation.

Noticing the smooth transitions from breath to breath.

Just breathing in and out and in and out and in and out in an unbroken stream.

The in breath becomes the out breath and the out breath effortlessly becomes the in breath.

Don't try to change your breathing in any way.

Just let it be right for you in this moment,

Just as you are,

Breathing how it is comfortable for you.

Just taking note that you're breathing.

You're breathing in and out.

Now again,

Bring your awareness to the navel center,

Noticing the transitions of the breath as you inhale,

The belly rises and as you exhale,

The belly forms.

This effortless breathing.

Inhale and exhale.

Now notice that you are not the breather.

You are the witness.

Your body breathes.

And you are the quiet observer as your body breathes.

So bring your awareness to third eye,

Agnya chakra,

The geometric center of the brain.

Allowing your body to settle into the stillness.

Just as you are in this moment,

Allowing your breath to be just right for you in this moment and noticing how your body quietly breathes.

Now notice as you go into the stillness,

As you deepen into the stillness,

Your breath lengthens.

The inhalation and exhalation become long,

Smooth and slender.

Now begin to notice how you're shifting from thinking and doing to feeling and being.

Just as gradual shift,

Getting a felt sense in your body for how you are in this moment.

I am at peace.

My mind is at peace.

My body is at peace.

Sense the space around you,

Your biosphere.

And now begin to see and sense how your body is deepening into this vast spacious awareness.

Now move your awareness to your toes.

As you inhale and exhale,

Bringing in the divine healing qualities of Mother Goddess.

Keeping the toes energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to your ankles,

To both ankles.

Noticing your awareness here.

Noticing the inhalation and the exhalation.

Feeling again the divine healing qualities of Mother Goddess here at the ankles.

Keeping both ankles energized,

Healed and restored.

Now gently moving your awareness to the middle of both calves,

The middle of both calf muscles.

As you inhale and exhale,

Bringing in the divine healing qualities of triple rest under you.

Keeping both middle of the calves energized,

Healed and restored.

Now moving your awareness to the root of the calves,

The base of the knees.

Focusing your awareness here.

Gathering your energy here.

Feeling the root of the calves energized,

Healed and restored.

Now moving your awareness to the middle of both knees.

Noticing your awareness here.

Feeling in the divine healing qualities of triple rest under you,

Divine Mother Goddess.

Keeping both middle of the knees energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the middle of both thighs.

Moving your awareness here in the middle of both thighs.

As you inhale and exhale,

Bringing in the divine healing qualities of triple rest under you.

Keeping the middle of both thighs energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the root of the anus,

The perineum.

Just resting your awareness here.

Feeling in the divine healing qualities of triple rest under you.

Feeling the perineum energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the middle of the hips,

Centre of the hips.

As you inhale and exhale.

Then bringing in the divine healing qualities of Mother Goddess.

Focusing in the middle of the hips.

Feeling this area energized,

Healed and restored.

Now moving your awareness to the root of the urethra.

Focusing here at the root of the urethra.

Feeling in the divine healing qualities.

Feeling the root of the urethra energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the navel.

Then bringing in divine healing qualities into this area.

Feeling the navel energized,

Healed and restored.

Focusing your awareness to the heart centre.

Feeling the awareness here.

Feeling the heart centre energized,

Healed and restored.

Now moving your awareness to the root of the throat.

Feeling the divine healing qualities of Tripura Sundari here into the throat centre.

Feeling the throat energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the root of the tongue.

Focusing here at the root of the tongue.

Focusing on Mother Goddess.

Feeling in the divine healing.

Feeling the root of the tongue energized,

Healed and restored.

Now moving the awareness to the root of the nose.

As you inhale and exhale,

Bringing in the divine healing qualities of Tripura Sundari,

Meditating on Mother Goddess.

Feeling the root of the nose energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the middle of the eyebrows.

Third eye.

Contemplating Tripura Sundari.

The Noah of the three worlds,

Waking,

Dreaming and deep sleep states.

Feeling the middle of the brows energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move your awareness to the middle of the forehead.

Focus your awareness here in the middle of the forehead.

Going deeper and deeper into the stillness.

Focusing on Mother Divine.

Feeling the middle of the forehead energized,

Healed and restored.

Now move the awareness to the crown of the head.

Again contemplating on the Divine Mother Goddess.

Feeling the crown of the head energized,

Healed and restored.

Sense your body glowing at each of these points.

While contemplating on Tripura Sundari.

Drawing the Divine Shakti,

Divine energy.

And feel the body and mind deepen into the stillness.

Let tranquility and peace fill your body.

I am still.

I am at peace.

My mind is silent.

My breath is smooth and slender.

Now move your awareness to Muladhara Chakra at the base of the spine between the perineum and the coccyx.

I am going to be chanting the mantra to the Divine Mother Goddess Tripura Sundari at each of the seven chakras.

Singing here at Muladhara.

Om Lam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart of Divine Mother Goddess into Muladhara Chakra,

The base chakra.

Rest in this base chakra visualizing the four petaled chakra.

Now bring your awareness to Svadistana Chakra just below the navel,

Pelvis center.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart of Tripura Sundari Mother Goddess into Svadistana Chakra.

Rest your awareness and visualize the six petaled chakra.

Now move your awareness to Manipura Chakra in the region of the solar plexus.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart into Manipura Chakra.

Rest your awareness here and visualize the ten petaled chakra.

Now move your awareness to Anahata Chakra at the level of the heart,

Center of the chest.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart into Anahata.

Rest your awareness here and visualize the twelve petaled chakra.

And bring your awareness to Vishuddha Chakra at the level of the pit of the throat.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart into the throat chakra.

Rest your awareness here and visualize the sixteen petaled chakra.

Now bring your awareness to Agnya Chakra,

Third eye,

Located in the center of the brain.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart into the mind in the third eye Agnya Chakra.

Rest your awareness here and visualize the two petaled chakra.

Now move your awareness to Sahasrara Chakra located at the crown of the head.

Om Vam Reem Hamza So Ham Swaha.

This is the mantra to bring in the light of the spiritual heart to consciousness into the Sahasrara Chakra.

Rest your awareness here and visualize the thousand petaled lotus.

Let the Sahasrara bring in the consciousness of the Divine Self,

Breathing in this awareness.

Moving down to Agnya,

Bringing the consciousness of the Divine Self,

Breathing in this awareness.

Moving down to Vishuddha,

Bringing the consciousness of the Divine Self.

Breathing in this awareness.

Moving down to Vishuddha,

Bringing the consciousness of the Divine Self,

Moving down to Svadhisthana,

Bringing the consciousness of the Divine Self,

Breathing in this awareness.

Moving down to Muladhara,

Bringing the consciousness of the Divine Self,

Breathing in this awareness.

Sanctify your whole body.

Breathe in this awareness of the Infinite Self.

All the lower six chakras are contained in the Sahasrara and the Sahasrara is contained in the Riddhaya,

The spiritual heart.

Now effortlessly move your awareness to the Riddhaya,

The spiritual heart,

Where all the chakras are contained.

This is the flame at the center of your being.

Rest in this awareness of non-doing,

Eternal presence,

The Divine Mother,

Tripura Sundari,

The lower of the three worlds,

The center of your being.

Realize the light of your eternal being in the Riddhaya.

Bless the space of eternal presence.

The eternal light.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart for a few moments.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart.

We're going to rest in the spiritual heart.

Now gently bring your awareness back to Riddhaya,

The spiritual heart.

Noticing how your breath deepens.

Now move your awareness to throat center.

And throat center,

Move your awareness to third eye.

Gently bringing your awareness into the room and back into your body.

Again,

Becoming aware of the sounds in the room or outside.

Bringing your awareness back to your breathing.

And again getting a felt sense of your body as you are in this moment.

Taking time to integrate.

If you'd like to roll over to sleep then do so.

If you'd like to continue to sit or rest then do that too.

If you'd like to come back to sitting then begin by moving the head from side to side.

Gently waking up.

Moving the fingers,

Moving the toes.

If you're able to then hug your knees into your chest and gently rock from side to side.

Taking your time.

Moving the knees back to the floor,

Rolling over onto your right.

Shankaracharya says in the Tripura Sundari Stotra,

The beauty of the three worlds,

Tripura Sundari,

Whose eyes are like a freshly blooming lotus,

Who is dark like an autumn rain cloud.

We take refuge in the wife of Lord Shiva,

The three eyed one,

In Tripura Sundari,

The goddess of the beauty of the three worlds,

Who dwells in a forest of bliss,

Whose ornaments glisten with gold,

Who wears a great pearl necklace,

Whose mouth rolls with wine,

Who is the giver of great compassion,

Who has wide eyes and wanders free.

We take refuge in the wife of the three eyed one,

In Tripura Sundari,

The goddess of the beauty of the three worlds.

If you're coming back to sitting,

Then keep the eyes closed.

Gently rub your hands together.

Placing the palms over your eyes.

Gently bringing your hands down and opening your eyes.

Placing on your midline,

Your spine,

And being aware of this inner stillness.

Om shanti shanti shanti.

Om shanti shanti shanti.
