Welcome to a hit of hope.
Settle yourself.
Lift through the crown of your head.
Let your shoulders relax and your mind clear.
Inhale.
Exhale.
How are you looking right now?
Not in the mirror,
But how are you looking at the world right now?
You can see everything that's wrong.
You can hate everyone around you.
You can blame others for everything that is happening to you.
You can be filled with anger,
Fear,
And dread.
You can sit alone and wonder why no one calls.
Or you can see the gifts that life is giving you.
The butterfly that makes it from one side of the road to the other.
The man driving the garbage truck who pulls over and gives your dog a treat.
The old friend who calls out of the blue.
The new friend who hugs you and won't let go.
And if none of those things have happened to you,
Can you be the friend who calls?
Can you be the friend who hugs?
Can you be the stranger who gives directions or offers a treat to a dog with a wagging tail?
If you are contracting,
Can you expand?
If you are hurting,
Can you help?
Instead of always looking at the past and wishing you had done things differently,
Can you quit trying to make a U-turn?
Instead of being afraid and uncertain,
Can you be brave and full of curiosity and wonder?
To life,
To life and all of its ups and downs,
Its pains and joys,
Its frustrations and surprises,
Can you give a soft-hearted,
A whole-hearted yes?
Namaste.
