We are living in a world where we are bombarded by input all the time. This can take a toll on us--mentally, physically, spiritually. This meditation gives us a chance to be, here, now. That way we can hold onto our center as we go about our daily lives.

Hey,

Welcome to a hint of hope.

You've likely heard the saying,

Nothing new under the sun.

As in whatever is happening right now has likely happened before in one form or another.

To that,

I say yes and yes,

The world has experienced love and chaos,

Suffering and hope throughout all of time.

But I think one big difference right now is the scale of it.

How huge it all feels and how in our faces it all is.

For thousands of years,

We lived life as quickly as our feet or our horse's feet could manage.

While we may be heard about what was going on elsewhere,

What we knew,

What we were intimately familiar with were the ups and downs of our family or our tribe,

Our village.

Now in the very palms of our hands,

We have the capability to see what is happening on the other side of the world as it is happening.

It is,

As the movie title says,

Everything,

Everywhere,

All at once.

Is it any wonder we feel overwhelmed,

Despair?

It's so much.

That's why it's crucial to be here right now.

And this isn't just some wise platitude.

This is a survival strategy.

You know how electric systems can short circuit if there's too much current flowing through?

There are literally breaker boxes that flip switches to shut it all down before real damage happens.

And that's what we are trying to prevent right here,

Right now,

By letting the outside world be just for the time being and going in and settling down.

This doesn't mean you don't do or you don't care.

It means you are a holy,

Living,

Breathing human being in a world on fire.

To be here,

To survive,

Be,

To settle,

Be here,

To bring yourself back into balance,

To ready yourself for what is out there,

Be,

Breathe,

Here,

In,

This,

Now.

Breathe in,

Breathe in,

Let your shoulders drop,

Let your body return to center,

Breathe in,

Breathe out,

And be ready.

And then get back out there where you can live,

Light,

And shine.

I listen to these talks and meditations almost every day. Sometimes I come away inspired and feeling good. Sometimes I don’t feel anything in particular. And sometimes I wonder why I don’t feel the bliss and compassion and acceptance of “what is”. No complaints, just thinking. Thanks for keeping it real!

So much wisdom and support. Things that resonated were that in the past our circle was only as far/fast as our feet could travel. Also how to find the electrical breaker box before overloading. Many thanks and wishing the world and especially this teacher light.

It’s hard to simply be when being reminded each day that we seem to becoming a crueler to others. But then I see the love expressed in this app and its meditations, and I feel renewed optimism. Thank you Betsy for continuing to shine your light and your wisdom in your messages.

Hi there! I needed to hear your words tonight. To be here now. Six months ago Asheville, NC and surrounding communities were devastated by Hurricane Helene. Some no longer exist. Storm debris still litter our streets. Some are still impassable. Our world was turned upside down. "A world on fire"... There is a new way of being, of living post Helene... Breathe in and breathe out. Rest. Recharge. Rebuild. It's ok, it will be ok. Your words brought comfort. Thank you!

So apropos with all that is happening. As a very proud Canadian, I find I am too consumed with the gong show to the south. I truly hope for better days ahead.
