This meditation is a quick check-in to help re-center at any time during the day.
Wherever you've come from,
The conversation before this,
A meeting,
The email you just sent,
The news,
Maybe the kitchen,
Let that be complete for now.
You could find a comfortable posture for meditation sitting right where you are is perfect.
If it feels more comfortable for you,
You can also stand or lie down.
So let's begin with a slow deep breath in and slowly letting it go.
You might take a quick scan of your body to see if it would like to release any tension.
It's ready to let go of.
And taking in one more slow breath in and letting the out breath be a release.
And now we'll check in with what's present for you in this moment.
Let's begin with the mind,
Bringing your attention to your mind.
What's the tone?
Is it busy,
Slow,
Active,
Or quiet?
Maybe it's confused.
Maybe it's lit up with interest.
Perhaps it's heavy or worried.
Whatever's here,
Allowing it to be as it is.
There's nothing to do,
Just noticing.
And if you can,
Offering compassion to whatever you discover.
You might whisper softly to yourself,
Thank you mind for working so hard on my behalf.
And now we'll shift our attention to the body.
How is your body right now?
You could take a quick scan from head to toe,
Looking for areas of tension and also areas of ease.
Just taking an assessment of how things are for the body.
This is how my body feels right now.
These are the areas asking for tenderness.
And again,
You might whisper to yourself,
Thank you body for all the ways you hold the joys and sorrows of my world and how you carry me through it.
And then finally,
Bringing your attention to your heart.
You might become aware of the area in your chest that is home to your heart.
Sensing into that space and how it expands out to each side and from front to back.
And if it feels workable,
Inviting a softening and an opening of the heart.
So that you can ask,
What's present in your heart right now?
What emotions is it carrying?
Again,
We're not trying to change them or fix them.
We're asking what wants to be known in your heart.
You might offer your heart this wish.
Thank you heart for showing me what matters.
And when that feels complete,
You might also just sense in your body if anything has shifted.
And then taking a little bit of time to return to the room that you're sitting in.
Maybe stretching your body and noticing some sounds before you get right back to it.
