Hello best day yet listeners.
This is Marjorie and today's episode is for deep relaxation.
This episode is perfect for right before you take a nap,
Go to sleep,
Or if you just need a break to relax.
The best part is we're going on an adventure and in this adventure you are going to get your own little animal friend.
Are you with us?
Here we go.
Imagine you're laying in a garden and in this garden are flowers all around you.
Red trumpet flowers,
Purple bell flowers,
And yellow cone flowers.
Oh and orange day lilies all around.
And the whole garden smells,
Well it smells like flowers.
You lay in a hammock that swings gently back and forth,
Back and forth.
You breathe in as it swings back and forth.
You breathe out and it swings back and forth.
All is well here in the garden and someone,
Something,
A tiny almost magical animal is about to visit you.
Let's take one more breath in as we wait.
Breathe in your hammock swings back and forth.
Breathe out your hammock swings back and forth.
Do you hear them?
What do you think they are?
Bees?
No not bees,
Something more harmless.
A zipper?
Zippers aren't tiny magical animals.
I saw it,
It's a hummingbird.
Ding,
You got it.
But it's not just one hummingbird,
It's hummingbirds all around us.
See right there?
There's a blue one and over there is a green one and a red one and there's a pink one and over there right by your toe is a yellow hummingbird.
Oh and one more,
That one has iridescent rainbow feathers.
Do you have a favorite?
Kids listening,
I'm going to make you a deal.
You can choose one hummingbird to have as your very own for this story.
Which one do you want?
Okay,
Did you make a choice?
You choose one hummingbird and I am going to give you a crazy challenge.
I challenge you to get your hummingbird to land on you.
How are we going to do that?
Watch the hummingbirds,
What do they love most of all?
They love the flowers.
Yes,
By the way kids listening,
This is your garden because it exists in your imagination.
So you can go ahead and pick whatever you want to help yourself lure the hummingbirds in and win the hummingbird challenge.
Imagine you are walking around the garden and you pick some red trumpet flowers.
You pick some purple bell flowers.
You pick some yellow cone flowers and you choose the biggest and the most orange daily.
Oh and you spot a rose bush and you shake that rose bush.
Careful for the thorns.
And a bunch of rose petals go fluttering down and you gather the petals up in your arm and jump them into your hammock and then you lay back down in your hammock stretched out on a bed of rose petals.
You take those red trumpet flowers and you put them between your toes and you take the purple bells and you put them on each of your knees and you hold the yellow cone flowers in each of your hands and you reach out and put that one giant daylily right on your head.
And you stretch out in your hammock and wait rocking back and forth,
Back and forth,
Taking deep belly breaths.
And the hummingbirds zip and dance all around you.
As you wait to see if your hummingbird will land on you,
Your eyelids grow heavy and your body grows even heavier and you almost fall asleep on your hammock of flower petals.
Almost.
But then a hummingbird,
Your hummingbird,
The color that you chose before lands on your right toe.
If you don't know your rights and lefts just pretend that you do.
And it drinks the nectar of that red trumpet flower that you placed between your toes and you feel her tiny weight as she rests on your big toe and then off to your left toe where she drinks from that red trumpet flower.
And as she drinks,
She takes a sip of the red and as she drinks you think,
I am completely safe.
And then your hummingbird is off again and she zips to your knees to enjoy the sweet purple bell flowers.
Her weight,
No heavier than a penny,
Lands on your right knee and then on your left and you think,
I am so calm.
And your hummingbird zips over to your right hand and lands in the palm of your hand to enjoy the yellow cone flower and your right hand opens and relaxes.
She zips over to your left hand and it too opens and relaxes and you think,
I am protected.
And finally she lands on your head,
Your forehead to be exact.
You think it would tickle but it doesn't.
The tiny weight of your hummingbird fills you with a deep calm and relaxation and as she drinks the nectar from the giant orange daylily on top of your head,
You think,
I am totally at peace.
And your hammock rocks,
The both of you,
Back and forth,
Back and forth,
Back and forth.
Just when you think she might spend all night up there perched on your forehead,
She zips to a branch right next to your hammock.
You didn't notice this before but now you see a tiny,
Tiny nest on that branch.
Really tiny,
No bigger than your thumb and inside of it are two eggs,
Each the size of a jelly bean.
Your hummingbird climbs into her tiny nest and she shifts around until she is comfortable and closes her tiny eyelids.
Her belly is full,
She is safe,
She is calm,
She is calm,
She is protected,
She is at peace.
And you too curl up in your hammock,
Which feels more and more like your nest and the paddles drift off the side one by one as your worries drift away.
All is well and the very best sleep falls over you like a soft feather blanket.
This sleep takes the same route the hummingbird did.
Your toes and feet fall asleep and your knees stretch and drift into dreamland.
Your hands fall into a happy slumber and your forehead relaxes and dozes off and you are safe.
You are calm,
You are protected,
You are at peace.
Annie and I are wishing you the very best dreams and tomorrow when you wake we wish you the best day yet.
