Greetings and welcome to the Why Struggle Podcast.

I'm your host,

Barbara J.

Faison,

And my intention with this podcast is to offer ideas,

Insights,

And inspirations so you can live life better.

Greetings and welcome to 2025 Week 14,

Tools Part 5.

If you're new to the podcast,

Welcome,

And if you listen regularly,

Thank you.

This is an episode about more tools using self-massage and your breath.

I hope you're discovering ways to connect with your body daily.

Checking in with how you feel in your body is a practice all on its own.

If you've been following me on any of the social platforms,

You may be aware that I offer something called breath breaks.

It's usually one to two minutes where I encourage you to stop during the day,

Take a few deep intentional breaths,

Or just be fully present with what is happening in that moment.

That simple practice is a great way to learn more about what your body needs in the moment.

If we allow it,

Life can be extremely busy and active,

And we can wake up,

And before we know it,

We're going to bed and starting the cycle all over again.

This sounds like a recipe for stress to me.

In my 2025 podcast episodes 6,

7,

8,

And 11,

I shared the tools of breath,

Grounding,

Gratitude,

And using affirmations.

Be sure to check them out.

The tool for this episode is a twofer.

Actually,

We use three tools in one practice.

We will practice self-massage using the calming point,

Deep breathing,

And calming affirmations.

Let's take a moment to check in with your body right now.

How are you feeling physically,

Mentally,

And emotionally in this moment?

On a scale of 1 to 10,

10 being very stressed and 1 being very relaxed,

What number would you pick right now?

Let's get ready to settle your body down and tune into the present moment.

I hope you enjoy my settling down meditation,

Where you will use self-massage,

Breathing,

And affirming phrases to bring your body to a calmer state.

The meditation is 8 minutes and 37 seconds long.

Greetings.

I'm Barbara,

And welcome to this settling down meditation.

In the busy,

Active world we live in,

Sometimes we just need to settle our bodies down.

You may need to settle down from being busy,

Overwhelmed,

Or you may want to take a pause in your day.

Whatever the reason,

I'm glad you're here.

Find a place that feels good for you right now,

Seated or lying down.

You will use your breath and gentle massage to settle and shift your energy.

Let's find the calming point to begin to settle the energy in your body.

Open your left hand and place your right thumb in the center of your left palm and begin to gently massage there.

This is called the calming point.

Begin to notice your breathing as you continue to massage the center of your left hand.

Say out loud,

I give myself permission to settle down.

As you are massaging your palm,

Begin to deepen your breathing by taking slow inhales and longer exhales.

Keep massaging and breathing.

Sometimes when we're feeling out of sorts,

We can't name or express the emotions that we feel.

Keep breathing and massaging your left palm.

If you are able to name that feeling,

Say it out loud right now.

If not,

That is perfectly fine.

Just keep massaging and breathing deeply and fully.

Now,

Begin to massage toward each finger from the center of your palm as you continue breathing.

So now you are massaging your entire left hand on the inside in the palm.

Listen to these words.

If you want to repeat,

Feel free.

In this moment,

I allow peace to enter.

I choose peace in my mind.

I choose peace in my body.

I choose peace in my thoughts.

I choose peace now.

What's happening in your body right now?

Check in to notice if anything is changing or shifting.

Keep breathing and let's move over to the right hand.

Begin to massage in the middle of your right palm with your left thumb as you breathe deeply and fully.

Continue breathing and massaging the middle of your palm,

Then extend the massage out to your fingers.

Continue massaging your right palm as you breathe.

Breathe deeply and fully into your body.

As you breathe and massage your right palm,

Listen or repeat these words and feel them in your body.

In this moment,

I allow peace to enter.

I choose peace in my mind.

I choose peace in my body.

I choose peace in my thoughts.

I choose peace now.

Let's check in with how you feel in your body and your mind right now.

As the energy in your body settled down,

Relax your hands and take a deep breath in through your nose with a loud exhale.

Begin to rub your hands together and feel the warmth between your palms.

Now place your hands on the top of your head.

Top of your head and remind yourself.

I allow peace to enter my mind,

My body,

And my spirit.

I choose peace now.

Relax your hands.

Begin to return your attention to this present moment.

How do you feel now?

Remember,

You can choose peace anytime.

Thank you for practicing with me today.

Return to this place or this meditation anytime.

Anytime you desire.

Until next time,

Choose peace.

Be well.

How are you feeling in your body right now after the settling down meditation?

Now,

On a scale of 1 to 10,

What number would you choose?

In less than 10 minutes,

I hope you felt your body relaxing even more.
