Greetings and welcome to the Why Struggle Podcast.
I'm your host,
Barbara J.
Faison,
And my intention with this podcast is to offer ideas,
Insights,
And inspirations so you can live life better.
Greetings and welcome to 2024,
Week 43,
Give Thanks.
Yep,
We are in the gratitude space again.
Most days when I journal,
I write down something I'm grateful for,
And it can range from health,
Being mobile with limited pain,
My hubby TD,
Family,
And more.
I spoke about some of the science behind having a gratitude practice in episode 38,
Gratitude Practice.
Even without the science,
I can feel the difference when I choose to be grateful.
As I was preparing to post this episode,
I had issues with opening up the software program I used to post my podcast,
And I still give thanks.
And I realized a few days ago that I mislabeled a few of my podcasts earlier this year.
I give thanks that I wasn't as bothered as I would have been in the past when the technology didn't behave as I liked,
And when I made errors with labeling the podcast episodes.
My mantra?
It's not that serious or important.
I'm also grateful that I have a newsletter and that I can post the podcast in other places other than just the audio version.
It will all work out.
And for that simple statement,
I truly give thanks.
A few things I feel grateful for today are a chiropractic adjustment,
Walking in the sun by the Chattahoochee River,
And French vanilla cappuccino.
I hope you enjoy this gratitude practice that reminds me that gratitude is an attitude and a practice.
Did you know that gratitude is an attitude and a practice?
When we take time to take a moment to be fully present to what we appreciate in our lives,
It can increase our ability to manage our life and feelings better.
I say thank you,
God,
Universe,
Spirit,
Creator,
All day long.
Whenever I say these words,
I immediately feel better.
This meditation is a short list of gratitude based on our body and senses.
I hope you enjoy this meditation as much as I enjoyed creating it.
You can use this anytime you want to truly appreciate your life.
You can stand,
Sit,
Or lie down for this practice.
Ready?
Let's begin.
Place one hand in the center of your chest and the other hand right above your navel.
Notice how that feels.
Take a deep breath in,
Extending your belly as you breathe in.
And releasing your belly as you exhale.
Let's take another deep breath this way.
Breathe in,
Extending your belly.
And out,
Releasing your belly.
Now press your feet down into the surface where you are standing,
Seated,
Or lying down.
How does this feel?
Take another deep breath in through your nose and push it out through your mouth with a loud exhale.
Notice any sensations or feelings if they arise.
Press your feet or body into the surface where you are.
Notice how it feels and how solid the surface is.
Take another breath in through the nose and push it out through your mouth with a loud exhale.
Remind yourself,
I am on solid ground.
Repeat after me,
I am safe.
I am grateful for being on solid ground.
I am grateful for my breath.
I am grateful for my eyes,
Sight,
And vision.
I am grateful for being able to breathe and smell scents,
Odors,
And fragrances.
I am grateful to be able to hear sounds and notice how I feel in my body.
I am grateful to be able to taste,
Chew,
And savor foods I eat.
I am grateful for my sense of touch and what it allows me to feel.
I am grateful to have a sound mind.
I am grateful and appreciate all of my thoughts,
Ideas,
And nudgings.
I am grateful to be able to feel emotions,
Sensations,
And feelings in my body.
Let's relax our hands.
Check in with how you feel right now and say that feeling out loud.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth with a loud exhale.
Thank you for listening to this gratitude as a practice meditation focused on our body and senses.
Come back to this place anytime you need.
Namaste.
What are you grateful for these days?
Observation,
Or reflection where you're listening to this podcast.
Thank you for listening.
