Welcome to meditation.
There's no need to worry whether you do meditation right or wrong.
There's no forcing or struggling here.
Imagine a surfer riding a wave.
Her challenge is to stay aloft as waves crash and churn beneath her and let them carry her to smooth water.
It's the same way in meditation.
Too many people quit before they're carried into the smooth waters of inner stillness.
Just like a surfer,
You need to ride through those first choppy waters.
No need to judge the choppy parts.
It's all part of the journey to inner peace.
So simply begin by taking a comfortable posture.
If you're sitting in a chair,
Keep your feet flat on the floor with your knees about hip width apart.
Keep your spine straight.
Let your shoulders relax.
And allow your face to soften.
If you're sitting on the floor with your legs crossed,
You might want to put a pillow under your knees for extra comfort.
You can keep your hands one palm on top of the other in your lap or have your thumb and forefinger touching on top of your knees.
The main thing is to just be relaxed.
And just close your eyes.
And allow the thoughts to come through the mind as they do,
Just like the waves in the ocean,
Without judging,
Without changing,
And without trying to stop them.
Just allowing them to be.
And simply notice the space and the quiet silence of the place that's watching those thoughts.
And just begin to rest into that place.
And if you're new to meditation,
You might just want to use these next three minutes to just become aware of the breath by simply inhaling deeply into the belly.
And exhaling through your nose.
And just continue to do this deep belly breathing for three minutes.
Whatever is comfortable for you.
I'll be ringing a soft bell at the end of the three minutes.
So let's meditate.
Citiesore.
Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to the room and when you're ready you can open your eyes and let's just sit for the next 30 seconds and allow the vibrations of the meditation to just run through your entire being.
Very nice.
Namaste.
