Welcome to this vagus nerve reset in which we'll be stimulating our vagus nerve by humming.
Now the reason that this works so well is because our vagus nerve runs near our vocal cords.
So some people may feel an immediate shift when doing a practice like this.
It can have a very soothing effect on the nervous system.
But for others,
It may be less noticeable,
And that's okay.
It's going to land differently for everyone,
So just check in with your body and see how it lands for you.
Another thing to keep in mind when we're doing practices like this that help regulate the nervous system.
Is that we're not always looking for an immediate and dramatic shift.
But rather we want to see if we can help support the body and the nervous system.
In feeling even just 5%.
Safer and more at ease.
So let's try this together now.
You may wish to close your eyes or simply soften the gaze,
Whatever feels most comfortable for you.
And we're going to start by taking a deep breath in through the nose.
And as we exhale,
We hum.
You Let's do one more together.
Breathing in through the nose.
And exhaling with a hum.
You I invite you to maybe place a hand on your belly,
One on your chest.
And just seeing if you can notice the belly expand on the inhale.
And as you exhale,
Any vibrations in the chest.
Maybe in the face or around the mouth.
Let's do a couple more together.
Breathing in through the nose and into the belly.
And exhaling with a hum.
You Last one now,
Breathing in through the nose and into the belly.
And exhaling with a hum.
Lowering your hands back down and maybe keeping your eyes closed for a moment.
Just letting that settle.
Noticing any sensation.
Any shifts in the body.
Seeing if we can simply observe without any judgment.
And when you're ready,
Slowly opening your eyes back up.
Coming back to the space around you.
Thank you so much for practicing with me today and I hope to see you here soon again.
