So many of us move through the world overstimulated,
By screens,
Constant notifications,
Noise and the pressure to always be on.
Our nervous systems weren't built for this pace and sometimes they need a gentle reminder that it is safe to slow down.
This meditation is an invitation to give your body that pause.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and exhale out of your mouth with a sigh.
Do that again,
Inhaling gently and exhaling with sound,
Letting your body know it can release.
Now begin to imagine your breath as a calm wave moving in and out.
Each inhale brings steadiness,
Each exhale lets go of a little tension.
Bring your awareness to your chest,
Notice how it rises and falls with every breath.
If you feel tightness,
See if you can soften even a little.
Now bring your attention to your belly.
Often when we're overstimulated,
The breath stays shallow and high in the chest.
Invite it to drop lower,
Breathing slowly into the belly and releasing slowly out,
Allowing space,
Allowing ease.
If your mind feels busy,
That's okay.
Instead of fighting thoughts,
Imagine them floating out on the exhale.
With your next breath,
Gently remind yourself,
I can soften,
I can rest,
I am safe here.
Feel into that safety as you take one final nourishing inhale and a long steady exhale.
As you move back into your day,
Remember your breath is always here to soothe you,
No matter how loud the world gets.
