Sometimes,

What we need most before sleep is simply to feel safe,

Warm and held.

Close your eyes and take a slow,

Deep breath.

Imagine a cocoon of soft light wrapping gently around you.

It holds you safely,

Tenderly,

Like a warm blanket.

Now let's take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Once more,

In through the nose and out through the mouth,

Letting your whole body soften.

Keep breathing at your own pace now.

With each breath,

The cocoon grows softer,

Cozier,

More protective.

Inside this cocoon,

Nothing is required of you.

You can simply rest.

Feel the breath slowing down.

Whisper to yourself,

I am safe.

I am held.

I can drift into sleep.
