Transcript
Hello and welcome to this yoga nidra practice for the Aries new moon solar eclipse.
This is the ending of a cycle of the eclipses on the Aries-Libra axis that started in April 2023.
So you may find that a chapter could be closing or a new shift is taking place in your life.
Eclipses can be quite turbulent so this yoga nidra practice is perfect to ground into the energy of Aries,
Taking a moment to reflect on yourself,
Your individuality,
Your courage,
Your confidence,
And as with the physical phenomena of a solar eclipse when the moon blots out the light of the sun,
This gives us an opportunity to reflect where we may be dimming our light and how to find more alignment between both the yin or the moon side of ourselves and the yang or sun side of ourselves.
So for this practice yoga nidra also known as yogic sleep will go through the five layers of your being to plant a seed of intention that will then be amplified by the sound bowls.
This seed of intention or sankalpa will be related to themes around the new moon and themes around Aries.
So around courage,
Honoring yourself,
Fueling your passion for life.
For this practice I recommend laying down in a completely comfortable position.
This practice is often done in shavasana with the support of blankets or props or pillows.
So take a moment to find a nice comfortable position there.
You may feel the call to fall sleep and if you do that is okay but do your best to remain awake.
The entire body will be relaxed but the mind will still be aware and awake so it's almost like you can feel the presence of awareness.
Don't force yourself to relax.
Allow the experience to be whatever it is and if you are feeling like you need to change positions feel free to do so as well.
Really the only activity that should be happening is your ears.
Your ears are open and receptive to my words,
To the sound and don't feel like you need to force yourself to concentrate.
That is meditation.
In yoga nidra it's all about receptive relaxations.
It's all about receiving and listening and just being open and receptive to whatever arises without judgment.
So once you find that nice comfortable shavasana or lying down position start by closing the eyes if you haven't yet.
Take a deep inhale through the nose filling up the body with air and exhale sighing it out the mouth.
We'll take two more breaths to clear and settle.
Take another inhale through the nose filling up the belly,
Filling up the chest,
Filling up the throat.
Open mouth sigh and exhale let something go.
Take another deep inhale exhale to soften.
Settle into your natural rhythm of breath.
We'll start by moving through a rotation of awareness through the body with a tighten and release technique to release any excess heat within the body and relax your nervous system as aries can be quite inflammatory.
As I call out each part inhale and squeeze that part tightly then on my cue exhale to fully release and relax.
Start by inhaling through the nose and simultaneously clench your feet and toes.
Now exhale,
Release the toes,
Uncurl.
Next inhale,
Clench both of your legs,
Hug them in towards the center and exhale fully release.
Let them be heavy on the ground.
Inhale,
Squeeze your shoulders,
Biceps,
Triceps in towards your ribs.
Exhale,
Relax your arms.
Inhale,
Clench the forearms.
Exhale to release.
Inhale,
Squeeze your hands into fists,
Clench the back of your head.
Exhale to release,
Let it go,
Soften the fingers.
Inhale,
Scrunch up your face including your forehead making a funny face.
Now exhale to release,
Relaxing your face,
Softening your brow.
Now on your next inhale,
Clench the whole body,
Squeeze the fingers,
The arms,
The legs,
The toes,
Hug the core in,
Clench everything tightly,
Big big inhale and release.
Let it all go,
Soften the body,
Melt into the ground.
Softly come back to your natural rhythm of breath and notice the shift in your body.
We'll begin to take a deactivating or releasing breath.
So we're gonna do a three-part breath,
Inhaling a third of air to the throat,
Another third to the chest,
Another third to the belly and one long exhale out.
So on my cue,
All together,
Inhale a third to the throat,
Take another inhale,
Third of the air to the chest,
Inhale that last third of air to your belly,
Exhale out the mouth,
All the air glides out.
Again,
Inhale a third to the throat,
Inhale to your chest,
Inhale to your belly and one long exhale out.
Do a few rounds of this three-part breath on your own,
Feeling any fiery internal energy begin to dissipate.
As you take that long slow exhale,
Release the part of you that fears being seen,
That fears being celebrated.
As the moon continues on its path in the eclipse and reveals the sun's light once again,
Feel all the beautiful parts of you step into the exalted sun.
As you are completely immersed in the golden light of the eclipse,
Begin to repeat to yourself three times,
Here begins the practice of yoga nidra.
I will stay awake and receive what I need.
Repeat three times,
My passion for life feels my inner light.
I shine with courage and confidence.
Embed this intention or sankalpa into the physical layer of your being with a detailed body scan.
I'll guide you to cycle your awareness across certain energy points on your body.
Bring your focus to that specific point,
Notice any sensations,
Then calm and quiet that area.
As I call out each point,
Soften it with your conscious awareness.
Start by becoming aware of the center of the upper chest.
Right where your heart is.
Become aware of the base of the throat,
Tip of the nose,
Space between the eyebrows.
Become aware of the tongue,
Jaw,
Lower row of teeth,
Upper row of teeth,
Upper lip,
Lower lip,
Space between your lips,

Right arm,
Left arm,
Both arms together,
The right leg,
The left leg,
Both legs together,
The back body,
The front body,
The whole body.
Become aware of the whole body.
Now gently guide your breath.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Starting to lengthen your inhales,
Feeling the belly rise,
And lengthen your exhales,
Softening the belly as it falls.
We will now move into a depressurizing breath,
Where you will inhale through your nose for four,
Hold it at the top for four,
Then exhale out your mouth for seven.
It's okay if you lose track of the count,
As long as your exhales are longer than your inhales.
Let's start all together.
Inhale through the nose,
For four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Hold it at the top for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale out the mouth for seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale through the nose again for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Hold for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Exhale out the mouth for seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Inhale through the nose for four,
Hold for four,
Exhale for seven,
Inhale for four,
Hold for four,
Exhale for seven.
Keep this breath pattern at your own pace,
Feeling more settled and at ease with each exhale,
As if you are releasing pressure from the valve with each long exhale.
Continue with this breath,
Inhaling for four,
Hold for four,
And exhaling for seven,
Feeling any excess heat leave your body on the exhale.
Taking one last cycle,
Ending on the exhale,
And let go of that breathing pattern,
Returning to your natural easy breath.
Just notice how you feel as the oxygen swirls throughout your body.
Notice any internal shifts,
Notice if any heat or inflammation has dissipated from your body.
Can you feel the blood flowing through your arteries?
Notice how this blood flow is now slow and relaxed,
Like a smooth,
Tranquil stream.
We'll now experience a series of opposing feelings and sensations.
As I call out each one,
Experience that feeling or sensation as it is,
Without assigning too much meaning or story.
And know that you are safe to experience this feeling or sensation.
Begin by feeling hot,
As if you are sweating through your clothes.
Now begin to feel cold,
As if you are shivering in the snow.
Invite the sensation of moving backwards.
Now invite the sensation of moving forwards.
Feel what it's like to be dull and boring.
Now feel what it's like to be bold and confident.
And exciting.
Feel confident.
Now feel insecure.
Experience arrogance.
Now experience humility.
Notice how it feels to be codependent.
Now notice how it feels to be completely independent.
Feel what it's like to be impatient.
Now feel what it's like to be discerning.
Experience yourself surrounded by the darkness of the night sky.
Now experience yourself glowing in the brightness of the sun.
Under the golden rays of the sun,
See yourself standing in a red sand desert.
The sun shines brightly overhead,
Warming your skin,
And uplifting your spirits.
Glowing scarlet landscapes surround you as the new moon begins to approach the sun.
That warmth you feel starts to turn into a slight chill as the sun's light dimmers.
It's now dark,
Sun and moon perfectly aligned in the sky.
This cosmic alignment balances your yin and your yang.
Your left side body to your right side body.
You are divine feminine and you're divine masculine.
See the moon slowly cross over the sun.
The slivers of sunlight that emerge radiate glowing confidence to your soul.
This new light opens the mind and opens the heart.
This new light opens the heart,
Flooding it with courage and bravery.
Be receptive and stillness to these sensations.
You begin to overflow with gratitude for the sun and moon.
Aligning powers to balance the heat of the sun.
Begin to radiate gratitude for the miracle of an eclipse,
Where one puzzle piece fits perfectly into another in our grand sky,
Simply by the pure nature of the universe.
And as this eclipse cycle in the signs of Aries and Libra closes,
Begin to feel gratitude for your self-evolution over the past 18 months since April 2023.
Being grateful for each and every version of you from the past,
Present and future.
In the core of this version of you,
Right at this moment,
Tell yourself three times,
My passion for life fuels my inner light.
I shine with courage and confidence.
Without moving your body,
Just become aware of the outline.
Becoming aware of the space that you take up and the space that surrounds you.
And in this space,
Feel your breath grow.
Deepening on the inhale.
Deepening on the exhale.
You are more than welcome to stay here in this space.
If you are ready to reawaken,
Find gentle movement.
Ever so slowly,
Bring light back to the eyes and close your practice with a breath in and a big,
Beautiful breath out.
Thank you so much.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
Thank you so much for joining me.
