This guided meditation is designed to support you in letting go of someone you love. I guide you through a mindfulness and visualization-based practice that begins with setting an intention and noticing your body's state and breath. I invite you to choose your preferred anchor for your awareness and then guide you through a visualization of an imaginary or real place where the encounter with the person you love takes place. Throughout the recording, I invite you to become aware of your body's responses to the visualization to support you in feeling and releasing any emotions connected to the experience of letting go. The practice encourages kindness, self-compassion, and a non-judgmental awareness and uses the sky as the witness of the unfolding of your story. It ends with a loving-kindness (metta) prayer to yourself and the person you love.

Hello and welcome.

I am Azya and today I will guide you through a mindfulness and visualization-based meditation to support you in letting go of someone you love.

If you are being called to experience this with me today,

I invite you to find a quiet or relatively quiet space where you may allow your unguarded and undefended heart to set yourself and the person you love free.

Become aware of anything that might be a significant source of distraction for you during the practice.

Perhaps consider setting any devices aside for a short while to reap the most benefit from our time together.

I encourage you to bring to the practice anything that may promote a sense of warmth and self-compassion.

Whether it is a cozy blanket,

A grounding mat,

Loose or warm clothes,

A dim light,

A comforting cushion or pillow to place underneath your neck,

Knees or lower back,

Or anything else,

The choice is yours.

May this space remind you that,

Just for now,

There is nothing you need to do,

No one you need to be,

And nowhere you need to go aside from being who you are right now.

Honoring wherever you are in your process.

I invite you to courageously show up as you are to the practice,

Whatever that might mean for you at this time,

Giving yourself permission to bring any parts of yourself you feel safe enough to share in the space we are co-creating together today.

You may allow yourself to lean into a position that brings ease to your body while also supporting you in remaining awake throughout the practice.

Placing your hands over your heart and gently turning the torchlight of your awareness inwardly,

I encourage you to set an intention to support your healing and the unfolding of your unique process.

You may ask yourself,

What is the truest yearning of my heart at this time?

Allow your answer to rise to the forefront of your awareness the way a beach ball jumps back up to the surface once we release it from the pressure of staying underwater.

You may even say a prayer instead,

Connecting to your image of God.

If nothing arises for you at this time,

That's okay too,

Remember that there is no right or wrong,

There is just your experience right now,

And whatever your experience is,

It is valid.

When you're ready,

You may release your intention or prayer and trust that it will unfold and fulfill itself throughout and beyond the practice in a way that is outside your conscious control.

I now invite you to close your eyes or lower your gaze,

Slowly adjusting your awareness to your inner landscape,

Which includes your physical sensations,

Thoughts and emotions.

Take your time with this.

You may place one or both hands on your belly or chest,

Or allow your arms to rest heavily along the sides of your body,

With your palms facing upwards.

You may choose a grounding anchor for the practice,

Such as your breath,

Belly,

Hands,

Feet,

Or any other body part that feels most comfortable to you right now.

Whenever your mind wanders away from the present,

The places you would rather not visit right now,

As it will naturally do,

You can kindly stir it back as best as you can,

To your anchor of choice.

Now,

Allowing the whole of your body to settle into this space in its own time,

I invite you to become aware of where your body contacts the surface below you.

Gently scan your body from the tips of your toes to the crown of your head,

Noticing any judgements,

Wishes or expectations.

Perhaps you might notice wanting your body to be or not be a certain way.

Remember that this is natural.

As best as you can,

You may acknowledge these judgements,

Wishes or expectations and stir your awareness from your idea of your body to your felt sense of it.

Now,

Allow your body to settle into this space in its own time.

Remember that this is natural.

As best as you can,

You may acknowledge these judgements,

Wishes or expectations.

Now,

If the breath is a comfortable place for you to be right now,

I invite you to become aware that you are breathing.

Begin by noticing the presence of your breath.

Notice it as it does its thing,

Entering your body through your nostrils or mouth,

Replenishing the pockets of your lungs,

Expanding your belly,

Quietly making its way into each corner of your body,

And then making its way back out as your belly contracts.

Notice any urge to change or fix your breath.

As best as you can,

Lean into it instead,

Trusting its wise rhythm,

Tempo and ability to bring you back to your home address,

Peace.

When you surrender to its space.

By befriending your body and breath,

You're befriending yourself.

It takes great courage to meet yourself in this moment as you are.

It is an act of opening and softening of the heart.

Whenever you notice your mind getting carried away by passing thoughts,

Acknowledge without judgement that your mind has wandered,

As it naturally does.

Congratulate yourself for noticing and kindly stir your awareness back to the breath,

And kindly stir your awareness back to the breath,

The body or your anchor of choice,

As many times as you may need.

I invite you to tune into your heart center by bringing your awareness to the area of your chest,

Around your physical heart.

Tuning into this part of the body,

Notice any present sensations,

Allowing whatever is there to emerge without forcing anything to happen or not happen.

Imagine opening a door that will take you right through your heart center.

As you step across this door,

Imagine walking into a space of peace,

Solitude,

And beauty.

As you enter this space,

A deafening quiet surrounds you and permeates your whole being.

The details of the space slowly become visible to you.

It may be a place of your imagination,

Somewhere you've been to or want to go.

Begin by noticing the colors that catch your eye,

The different textures and the subtle shades.

Become aware of the elements composing your landscape.

I invite you to curiously explore this space as if it were for you,

And created by you.

As you walk through this space,

Notice the feeling of your feet on the ground.

Are you wearing any shoes,

Socks,

Or are you barefoot?

Is the ground below you wet,

Dry,

Rocky,

Sandy,

Or grassy?

Feel your skin against the ground.

In this space,

You may bear your vulnerable heart,

Your vulnerable mind,

Your vulnerable body,

And your vulnerable mind.

In this space,

You may bear your vulnerable heart and any burden,

Sorrow,

Question,

Wish,

Or joy you may be carrying.

As you explore the space with your eyes and senses,

A specific direction calls your name.

I invite you to trust and follow it.

As you walk the path intended for you,

You begin to recognize in the distance a silhouette of a person walking towards you.

Their pace and how they carry themselves appear familiar to you.

They feel familiar.

They also are eager to meet you and have followed their respective path,

Trusting it would lead to you.

As they approach you,

Notice how your body and nervous system respond to their physical presence.

Bringing your awareness to your body now,

Notice any sensations that are present at this time.

Notice the air between the two of you and around you,

Its temperature,

And whether there's a gentle breeze or a strong wind.

Now,

You're just a few meters away.

You recognize their physical features and make contact with their eyes.

Perhaps you might notice their scent,

Or smell,

Or touch,

Or touch their skin.

You recognize their physical features and make contact with their eyes.

Perhaps you might notice their scent or something distinct or endearing about them and their appearance that you are fond of.

Notice whatever may arise in your body.

How do you feel in this person's presence?

What's arising?

No words are spoken or exchanged at this time.

I encourage you to tune in to the feeling of the moment as best as you can,

Without judgment or expectation,

Letting go of any attempts to make meaning of your experience right now.

Now,

I invite you to look up at the sky.

The sky that is lovingly watching over your encounter from above.

The sky that has witnessed the unfolding of your story without judgment and without ever taking sides.

A story that could never have been written by one person,

A story that could never have been written by one pair of hands,

As it required to.

A story that began long before your first physical encounter,

And that doesn't end with the last page of your shared book,

As it remains alive in each of your hearts.

The sky that has been unwaveringly present to all the stages of your growth and theirs.

As you became,

Through the container of the relationship,

More than you ever could become alone,

Holding each other's hands and following the same trajectory for some time.

You and they both know you have traveled as far as you can together.

You find yourselves at an undeniable crossroads where embracing your respective heart's yearnings means saying goodbye,

For now,

To the one you still love.

It is the only way to honor your unique paths and soul callings.

Now,

I invite you to gaze into their eyes.

What do you see?

What do you sense with words unspoken?

Some might say that love is true when love is commitment,

And when it says,

I choose you.

But when love wants to let go,

Love is letting go just as it might have been commitment at a different stage.

Now,

I love you takes on a new meaning.

I free you.

You may want to say these words out loud,

Or you might imagine saying them to the person you love.

Notice what occurs in your body when you say,

I free you.

Notice their response.

It takes great courage and a willingness to listen to the whispers of the heart to let go when your being together stifles each other's growth instead of propelling you forward.

Now,

Love wants to express itself differently.

May you allow it to.

May you allow it to pour into yourself,

Other people,

Living beings,

Places,

Adventures.

May you allow love to multiply.

As you gaze into their eyes,

Remember the time spent together and allow the memories to envelop the both of you.

May words that have already been said and unsaid words be offered to them in this space where only the two of you exist.

Remember when you felt seen,

Heard,

Or wanted by them.

Remember the good you both did for each other.

Remember when you felt unseen,

Unheard,

And unwanted by them and the soul searching that that caused you to do.

Remember their beating heart,

The fragile and resounding testament of their existence.

Allow this ending to honor the fact that your story existed.

What is something you are grateful for about them?

Let that gratitude wash over you and offer your bare heart to them.

What might they say in return?

What might they be thankful for about you?

Allow whatever resonates to emerge naturally.

Notice what is happening in your body in response to this exchange.

Notice any emotions surfacing as physical sensations coupled with thoughts or images.

Allow yourself,

As best as you can,

To be with your experience right now,

Whatever that may feel like to you.

And if nothing is happening,

Allow yourself to be with that too.

Trust it.

Breathe into your experience.

And breathe into any tension or resistance you may have around your experience.

Within you and the person you love is a sky,

A place of peace,

Unwavering presence,

And stillness you both are connected to.

You may imagine the sky within them meeting the boundless sky within you.

What is eternally present within you is eternally present within the person you love.

The imminent sky,

Reminding you of the never-ending nature of love,

Is the inner and outer witness of your meeting.

Like the sky,

Neither love can be created or destroyed.

It has always been there and will always be there.

Even now,

It is tangible.

Notice your breathing,

Allow it to be as it is,

As it carries you through this ending.

Now,

You notice a glimmer in the distance and they also spot something but in a different direction.

You know that you're about to part ways.

May you welcome faith as your time together ends and you begin to move apart.

I invite you to do or say whatever is left undone or unsaid and still lingering.

You may become aware of certain emotions surfacing in response to this,

Such as fear,

Sadness,

Grief,

Acceptance,

Peace,

Relief,

Joy,

Anger,

Resentment,

Or anything else or nothing at all.

Allow yourself to remain anchored to the sensations in your body,

An image or a word.

Whatever your experience may be,

Trust your unique process.

As you walk away from each other,

There is a mystery surrounding your respective paths,

Whether they will cross again and how far or where they will take you.

Welcome the mystery,

Welcome what you feel,

Welcome it all.

To end,

I invite you to connect to an intention,

A word that resonates perhaps for the path ahead of you.

Bringing your hands to your chest,

You may whisper your intention softly or hold it in your mind's eye.

Now,

Moving your gaze upwards towards the sky,

You know that the sky will carry on being the container and witness of new stories and more love to come.

What new story will be written now?

You might wonder.

You turn towards the person you love one last time as they fade in the distance.

Bringing a gentle,

Yet sincere smile to your face to soften your heart,

Imagine your love now echoing,

Multiplying,

Filling your heart.

Imagine your love now echoing,

Multiplying,

And rippling into each other's now separate lives.

You may say a loving kindness prayer to them as you bring them to mind.

Repeat after me and add their name at the end of each wish.

May you be happy.

May you be well.

May you be free from suffering.

May you come to love and accept all that you are,

Even your mistakes.

May you live with ease.

And may you know joy.

You may repeat the same prayer to yourself after me.

May I be well.

May I be happy.

May I be free from suffering.

May I come to love and accept all that I am,

Even my mistakes.

May I live with ease.

And may I know joy.

And to you I say,

May you love boundlessly and may you courageously let yourself be loved.

Thank you for listening.

Until next time,

Just love.

That was a beautiful meditation! I appreciate the vast flexibility it gives the meditator to choose whatever they’re comfortable with. And your soothing, soft, and kind voice made the experience very peaceful. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻

fantastic. the calming imagery allowed for a safe space within to process a multitude of emotions. i feel more at ease with the ending of a relationship, knowing we are both on our own journeys, which may intersect again at some point further along. i feel much more at peace after this meditation 🧘
