Ashlyn will guide you on a journey inward through the five koshas, or subtle layers of the body. This meditation will bring awareness to and cleanse the Annamaya Kosha (physical body), Pranamaya Kosha (energetic body), Manomaya Kosha (mind and emotions), Vijnanamaya Kosh (wisdom body), and the Anadanamaya Kosh (bliss body.) By moving through the Koshas, this deepens the awareness of the self.

Take a moment to allow yourself to fully land within your seat and to feel your presence fully arrive in this space.

Begin to deepen the intimate connection you have with your own breath as if you yourself were being breathed.

Feel the heaviness and the anchor of your sit bones.

And feel the contrast of the elongation of the spine extending beyond the crown.

And now begin to feel into the space between heaven and earth.

Feel into the outer layer of your physical body.

Trace the contour of your skin.

Feel your pores open and expand to read the temperature of the room.

Sense the texture of your clothes draped upon you and scan the physical body for any tension or holding.

Allow for your muscles to grow softer as if they could melt away from your bones.

And feel into the structure of your body.

Feel into the skeleton that holds you and moves you.

It allows you to interact in the material world in the most physical way.

Now allow for your awareness to move a layer inward.

Allow your senses to discover the next kosha,

The pranamaya kosha.

Start by simply noticing your breath.

Notice the expansion of the inhale and the grounding aspect of the exhale.

Now begin to sense the space in between the breath.

The inspiration behind the breath known as prana,

That which the breath rides upon.

As if you could now feel into your pranic body.

Not only the breath,

But the energy behind the breath.

Let your awareness begin to settle another layer inward to the emotional kosha,

The emotional body.

Taking a moment to check in with how you've arrived.

Any lingering feelings.

Knowing that this emotion or feeling is simply an experience.

That this is not your truth or your identity.

But simply a gift that you get to experience as being human.

The polarity and the range of emotions that are information.

That are responding to the world around you.

Knowing that it is safe to be with whatever emotion arises.

It is safe to feel into whatever emotion arises.

Give yourself permission to remove yourself from the charge of this emotion.

As if this emotion were energy and could simply move through you.

Trust that this feeling is simply temporary.

That by law of the universe it is subject to change.

Let your awareness now penetrate a layer deeper to the next kosha,

To the wisdom body.

As you feel into your own deep knowing.

The intuition that lives inside.

The wisdom that is held within from all of the ancestors that have come before you.

The intuition that connects you to the universe.

To all that is held in the sky.

Connecting you to consciousness.

Weaved throughout the world.

Weaved throughout the universe.

And now move your awareness to the innermost part of you.

Move your awareness to the bliss body,

To the soul,

Or the atman.

And check in with this part of you as if you were checking in with an old friend.

Asking yourself,

How are you really doing?

What makes your soul happy?

What brings your heart joy?

Connect to this part of you that is unshakable.

That always is,

Always has,

And always will be.

The part of you that obtains stillness and silence,

Yet is always in motion.

Feel into all of these parts,

Not as separate,

But as whole and as one.

Because each and every layer is a piece of you,

Contributing to your spiritual mission,

Your soul's journey.

Now let your awareness expand from the inside out,

Expanding as if the inner light of your soul were growing brighter.

Touching upon each of the layers,

Each of the koshas,

Until you could imagine your entire body filled with light.

Until you could imagine your entire body encompassed in light,

As if it were a halo hovering just outside of your own physicality.

Take as long as you need to be in the space and the light that you've created.

Take as long as you need to be with yourself,

To be within your own light.

Truly lovely meditation. The pace was a bit rushed and the ending abrupt. I'd love a 20 minute version of this with more spaciousness. Very well done. Exploring the koshas is a nice spiritual practice. Thank you so much for this gift. Blessed Be!
