Hello and welcome to day eight of the mindful minute.
This is Laura.
Today,
I'd like to talk about a cooling breath.
It's called the Satali breath.
Now there are two ways of doing this breath.
If you are able to curl your tongue,
You will inhale,
Drawing that cool air in through your mouth through that curled tongue.
And then as you exhale,
You'll press the tongue to the roof of the mouth and exhale through the nose.
Some people are genetically not able to curl their tongue and that's okay.
You can do this breath by inhaling through a smile with your teeth showing,
Drawing in that cool air,
And again exhaling through the nose while pressing the tongue to the roof of the mouth.
Go ahead and find a comfortable seat.
Turn down your gaze or close your eyes and let's begin.
If you're going to curl your tongue,
Go ahead and do that and inhale that cool air through the tongue.
Exhale with the tongue at the roof of the mouth through the nose.
Otherwise,
Smile,
Inhale through your teeth and exhale the same way,
Tongue to the roof of the mouth.
Continue drawing that cool air and notice how it begins very quickly to cool your body.
This is a great practice for anyone going through menopause,
Experiencing hot flashes,
Or anyone who just tends to get overheated or run hot.
It's very cooling and calming and just feels wonderful.
Do this as long as you'd like and take care.
