Tonight I would like to guide you on a walk to a place of calm.
A place where you can just sit and watch the starry night sky.
Your mind will of course at times want to wander and drift and when you notice simply return to my voice,
Return to the journey.
Your mind will soon sense how more calming it is to be on the journey,
Become less inclined to wander.
So before we start just do whatever you need to make yourself as comfortable as possible so there is nothing to do after the meditation ends and to sleep.
Settle yourself,
Adjust your covers,
Your position until you find that place of comfort.
And let's begin by taking a deep breath in and having a longer breath out.
Taking a deep breath in and longer breath out.
Noticing how your body rises and lifts as you breathe in,
Softens and settles as you breathe out.
Beginning to feel more and more connected with the surface that you rest.
Allow your breathing now to just fall into its own natural rhythm.
You may notice as you meditate that your breathing will slow which is absolutely normal.
If not already allow your eyes to gently close and use my voice as your guide.
Allowing for images,
Feelings and sensations to rise within you as you take this inner journey.
Gently bring your awareness now to your body,
To the very crown of your head and begin to feel a wave of relaxation wash over you.
Allowing tension to be washed from your forehead,
Your cheeks.
Allowing your shoulders to soften and sink.
Allowing worries to just tumble away.
Noticing the rise and fall of your chest.
Allowing the calm down your back.
Allowing down the legs.
Until your awareness rests upon the very soles of your feet.
Imagine that you are now standing at the very peak of a mountain.
You carry a pack upon your back,
Holding supplies that perhaps you might need.
There is a path stretching out ahead of you as you begin to walk along.
Confident that this path is leading you exactly where you need to be.
The path meanders gently down the mountain as you effortlessly make your way down.
You notice the beautiful valley below you.
Mountains in the distance.
You feel a sense of quiet.
The sun is beginning to fall.
The air is beginning to cool.
Perhaps you even notice the birds tucking their heads under their wings as they settle in for the evening.
The valley below you is now covered in mist and like the birds.
You know that it's time for you to find your own space of shelter for the evening.
As you continue along your path,
Find a small abandoned hut.
A safe space for you to rest.
There is a bench outside the hut.
You retrieve a blanket from your pack and decide to just sit,
Absorbing the nature that surrounds you.
Notice how the clouds and the setting sun work in harmony to paint a vibrant orange and pink sky.
As the sun falls deeper,
The sky transforms to turquoise until the sky becomes a deep,
Deep indigo.
As you gaze,
You notice the first star of the night,
Shortly followed by another star,
Then another and another.
The whole sky is shimmering and sparkling,
Becoming a sea of stars.
Notice how some stars appear brighter than others.
A shooting star moves across the sky.
Perhaps you wish on that star.
Take a moment to notice just how you feel.
Any sensations in the body?
On the skin?
Do you feel heavier?
Perhaps even a bit numb?
Return your awareness to the sparkling stars,
To the night sky.
Begin to notice as you breathe in,
You feel the calm glow of the stars enter with the breath.
As you breathe out,
You feel tension being released from your body.
Breathing in calm,
Breathing out tension,
Feeling immersed in the peace of the night sky as it washes over you,
Calming you.
Breathing in calm,
Breathing out tension.
If thoughts arise,
Allow them to disappear like the tail of a shooting star.
Returning your awareness to the breath and to the stars.
As the stars twinkle and sparkle,
You feel protected and safe,
Bathing in the calm of the night.
Breathing in calm,
Breathing out tension.
Breathing in calm,
Breathing out tension.
As you bathe in the night sky,
Allow the movement of your breath to gently guide you towards slumber,
Towards the rest that you deserve.
Allow your body to support and nurture you.
Breathing out tension.
And when you feel ready,
Allow your mind to just gently drift,
Drifting to sleep,
For time to rest and restore.
Sleep well.
