A short shoulder relaxation meditation. The shoulders are where many of us carry tension (especially those of us working on computers). We also "carry the weight of the world on our shoulders." Learn to let go!

Transcript

If it's safe to do so,

Close your eyes,

Allow them to close.

Lift your shoulders and let them drop.

As you drop your shoulders,

Feel any tension simply melt away.

Do this another three times.

Ready?

Lift.

Hold.

Relax.

Lift.

Hold.

Relax.

Once more.

Lift.

Hold.

Relax.

Good.

Tighten your hands into fists.

Tighten.

Tighter.

And relax your hands.

Let's do this another three times.

Tighten.

Tighter.

Relax.

Tighten.

Tighter.

Relax.

Tighten.

Tighter.

Relax.

And allow your shoulders and your arms and your hands and your fingers to loosen and relax.

Give them a little shake.

Now gently open your eyes and retain this level of relaxation.

This seems like a fantastic practice for everyday tense and sore shoulders. I've bookmarked it and saved it to a Playlist for specific physical issues. I wasn't able to actually do these movements today - my shoulder problems at the moment are mostly tendinitis in both of them, so that would hurt - but I simply visualized the motions and felt my neck muscles releasing a little bit, which felt nice and was a pleasant surprise.
