Let this meditation be your nightly ritual, a tender pause between who you’ve been all day and the soul you return to when the world gets quiet. Inspired by the simple holiness of winding down, this practice invites you to lay down your burdens, hush the inner critic, and rest in the softness of being. You will relax, offer gratitude for your efforts, connect with God, and lovingly detach from the noise of “doing.” The last few minutes before sleep are sacred. They are the doorway between the conscious and subconscious mind, a threshold where your soul is most receptive, tender, and open. What you think, feel, or whisper in those final moments seeps deeper than any other part of your day. As we end the day with presence and prayer, may peace become the lullaby that rocks your spirit to sleep. May you feel held by something greater, something kind, something deeply healing. Let the night become a temple. Let rest become your prayer.

Hello,

This is Anna Barreto and here is a prayer for a good night's sleep.

Dear God,

It's me again.

Winding down after another full day of being,

Well,

Just me.

You saw it all,

The moments I smile for others when I needed a hug,

When I talk too much,

The judging,

The racing thoughts about my life and my opinions about all the things that didn't belong on my plate.

You saw the dozen things I crossed off my list,

The then I added,

The few I forgot.

You must have had a good laugh,

Didn't you?

I'm getting better at being rather than doing.

As I lie down tonight,

I ask for one sacred thing,

Rest.

Yes,

I ask for rest.

Not just the kind that closes my eyes,

But the kind that quiets the world inside me.

You know the ones.

The endless to-do list that sneaks into my dreams.

The little voice that says I should have done more,

Been more,

Or said less.

Please hush those voices tonight.

Wrap me in your softness.

Let your peace settle over me like a warm blanket.

Remind every cell in my body that it's safe to let go,

That the world can wait,

That I am held tonight.

You made nightfall for a reason,

So we could stop pretending to be superhuman and just be human.

So tonight,

I'm putting down my cape,

My worries,

My shoes,

And even my bra,

Hallelujah.

Thank you for this body,

Even when it aches.

Thank you for this mind,

Even when it won't stop spinning.

Thank you for this heart,

Even when it feels too much.

They've all done the best today.

Bless my dreams.

Make them a playground for my soul.

Help me wake up tomorrow feeling like the sunrise kissed me back to life.

You know the kind.

And if you feel like it,

Could you send me one more of those dreams where I'm floating over a field of flowers with dancing with joy in my pajamas?

That would be very nice.

Thank you for loving me exactly as I am,

Messy hair and all.

Amen.
