On awakening,
Let us think about the 24 hours ahead.
We consider our plans for the day.
Before we begin,
We ask God to direct our thinking,
Especially that it be divorced from self-pity,
Dishonest,
Or self-seeking motives.
We ask God to help us set aside everything we think we know for an open mind and a new experience with ourselves,
Our relationships with others,
Our recovery,
And our spiritual path.
We ask God to open our minds and detach us from the things that no longer serve us,
Making room for a new experience.
We ask to be fully present in the now.
Under these conditions,
We can employ our mental faculties with assurance.
Our thought life will be placed on a much higher plane when it is cleared of wrong motives.
In thinking about our day,
We may face indecision.
We pause when agitated or doubtful.
We may not be able to determine which course to take.
Here,
We ask God for inspiration,
An intuitive thought,
Or a decision.
We relax and take it easy.
We don't struggle.
We ask for the next right thought or action.
We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show.
We ask that we may be free from self-will and that we might be a channel of God's peace.
Finally,
We pause for a moment of silent gratitude.
