A guided meditation for dropping below thinking to a place of calm. This meditation is unique in that it doesn't try to get rid of thinking, but includes it as part of a vertical awareness of your whole being, here now.

Closing your eyes and letting the thoughts and emotions from today be like the waves on the ocean.

You might have a lot of white caps and then dropping down below the waves,

Maybe 20 feet below the waves,

Dropping into calmer,

Deeper waters.

And you don't need to do anything about those thoughts and feelings on the surface,

The wind and the white caps.

It can just be there.

All you have to do is drop down deeper.

And when you drop below in the ocean,

Sometimes there's these subtle currents that you can feel deeper in the water.

There's not big waves,

But there's very subtle movement.

And that could just be feeling the rhythm of your breath right now as you drop below your head.

And the waves you drop down further into your body,

Just feeling the rhythm of breathing like the currents deeper in the ocean.

And if you pop back up onto the surface,

Into the waves and the thoughts,

No big deal.

Just dropping back down again when you remember.

And then you can drop even deeper to the deepest level of the ocean,

Which is just awareness itself.

The awareness that holds everything in the ocean,

From the bottom to the top,

From the waves on the surface to the very floor of the ocean.

Let yourself drop way down,

Just to that quiet awareness itself.

Notice you don't need to get rid of anything.

The thoughts can still be there up on the surface.

The rhythm of breathing can still be here in the currents.

And this bottom level of pure awareness can just be here as well.

It's all together.

And when you're resting at the bottom of the ocean as pure awareness,

Let yourself feel it's not your awareness.

Don't make it about you.

Just let it be the awareness,

Almost like you would go from feeling the ocean to just being the ocean.

It is you.

Notice whatever level you find yourself at,

The waves on the surface or deep down below,

Like here.

It's all you.

And you can go to whichever level you want at any time.

You can drop all the way down.

At any time,

It's always here,

The bottom of the ocean,

Your pure awareness.

Or even moving up to just the rhythm of breath.

It's always here.

In this kind of meditation,

It's a vertical meditation.

Nothing needs to happen in time.

It's all right here,

Available in the here and now.

You don't ever have to get rid of any experience,

Thought,

Or feeling.

You can just drop down to deeper and deeper levels of your being.

And taking as much time as you'd like to hang out at the bottom of the ocean.
