Welcome to this meditation reflecting on the four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and on the chapter Breaking Old Agreements.

So I've picked a few passages before our meditation.

So this is from chapter six,

Breaking Old Agreements.

The four agreements offer the possibility of ending the emotional pain,

Which can open the door for you to enjoy your life and begin a new dream.

It's up to you to explore the possibilities of your dream,

If you are interested.

The four agreements were created to assist you in the art of transformation,

To help you break the limiting agreements,

Gain more personal power,

And become stronger.

The stronger you get,

The more agreements you can break until the moment comes when you make it to the core of all of those agreements.

As those smaller agreements are broken,

Your personal power will increase until you reach a point when you can finally face the big demons in your mind.

For example,

The little girl who was told not to sing is now 20 years old,

And she still does not sing.

One way she can overcome the belief that her voice is ugly is to say,

Okay,

I will try to sing,

Even if I do sing badly.

Then she can pretend that someone is clapping and telling her,

Oh,

That was beautiful.

This may break the agreement a teeny tiny bit,

But it will still be there.

However,

Now she has a little bit more power and courage to try again and again until she finally breaks the agreement.

But for every agreement you break that makes you suffer,

You will need to replace it with a new agreement that makes you happy.

This will keep the old agreement from coming back.

If you occupy the same space with a new agreement,

Then the old agreement is gone forever,

And in its place is the new agreement.

So those will be the passages,

The themes for today's meditation.

And a reminder,

These are the four agreements.

Number one,

Be impeccable with your word.

Number two,

Don't take anything personally.

Number three,

Don't make assumptions.

And number four,

Always do your best.

And this meditation today brings everything together by breaking old agreements.

Get yourself comfortable.

Take a seat or lay down for this meditation.

And let's connect to the breath.

Relax the body.

Take a big inhale and gently release,

Soften,

Let that breath go.

Repeat that four more times,

Accessing the present moment by noticing each inhale and each exhale.

Breathing in,

I am present.

Breathing out to this moment.

Breathing in,

I am present.

Breathing out to this moment.

And gently place your hands on your heart.

Get present to the rise and fall of the breath underneath your palms.

What is an old agreement you would like to break?

An old agreement you are ready to release and let go.

Through the freeing of this old agreement,

Allowing you to step into your personal power,

Into the courage of transformation,

Bring to mind that old agreement.

See yourself in your mind's eye in the experience of that old agreement.

And as you see a picture,

A memory,

Words,

A visual,

Notice that it fades away.

Notice that that picture is getting smaller,

Retreating into the distance.

And now picture in your mind what will replace that old agreement.

And as the old agreement fades away and retreats,

As you softly allow yourself to release it and walk away from the old agreement,

Shift your mind,

Shift your vision,

And visualize yourself in a new way of being,

In the space of that old agreement,

Replacing it with something new,

Something that serves you today,

Something that aligns with who you want to be in this life,

In this moment.

What is a new agreement you want to practice,

Want to practice?

To practice mastery of repetition,

Creating a new habit,

A new pattern,

A new default,

Creating the possibility of a new dream.

And with your mind's eye open,

Visualize yourself practicing and living this new agreement.

And begin seeing this new agreement getting closer to you,

Growing larger,

Expanding.

I'll watch the time,

Allowing the old agreement to retreat and fade,

And allowing the new agreement to take up space,

To expand into your life.

Stay with your vision.

I'll be back with the sound of three bells.

Welcome back.

Take a big breath in and cleanse and clear out the space.

Let something go.

Breathing in your new agreement,

As you allow and exhale the old agreement to fade away,

Release it,

Let it go.

Acknowledge yourself for practicing these four agreements,

For releasing your old agreement and stepping into the courage and the awareness to view any old agreements that no longer serve you.

And when you release them to step into your personal power.

It's my honor and pleasure to lead you through today's meditation.

I really enjoyed the deep dive into the Four Agreements and my favorite was the silent meditation on last lesson with ending with the 3 bells.

Great wrap up to the series or standalone meditation about letting go of something in your life that you want to change. I hadn't focused on breaking any specific agreements when I listened to the book. This was welcome and I am feeling very positive!

I just went through all five agreements meditation. I love the ones that leave a lot of space for thought. This fifth one is about breaking old agreements. I had a major breakthrough and I’ll be working on replacing this old agreement. I have just discovered the book and these meditations are exactly what I need. Thank you
