Hello,
Welcome.
Welcome to your guided meditation.
This meditation is being recorded at the end of 2020.
And so now my invitation for you is to find yourself into a comfortable seated position,
Preferably up onto a bolster,
Something that will help you elevate your hips higher than your knees.
Bring one ankle in front of the other.
Stack your shoulders over your hips and place your hands onto your thighs,
Palms face down.
I'm sharing with you this guided meditation from my living yoga journal,
A book that I just published this year.
So get ready to enjoy.
Close your eyes and draw your awareness to your breathing.
Breathe in and out of your nose.
Settling into the moment.
Noticing if the mind is busy,
Just bring your awareness back to your breathing.
Do you take some time to settle in from the world of doing and simply allow yourself to be as you notice your physical body.
Ask yourself,
Am I my body?
Begin to notice your breathing.
Ask yourself,
Am I my breath?
Begin to notice your breathing.
Start to notice the next thought that you have.
Become aware of the thoughts that you're thinking as they arrive.
Ask yourself,
Am I my thoughts?
Notice the one asking those questions.
Is that you?
Is that who you are?
Are you your body?
Are you your breath?
Are you your thoughts?
Is that who you are?
And if you're not your body,
Your breath or your thoughts,
Then who are you?
Are you your thoughts?
Are you your breath?
Are you your body?
And if not,
Then who are you?
Sit,
Contemplate who are you?
If you're not your breath,
If you're not your body,
If you're not your thoughts,
If you're not the person asking these questions,
Then who are you?
And if you're not your breath,
Then who are you?
What has come into mind for you?
Where have you landed?
Who are you when you drop the labels that you identify with?
When you drop your name,
Your status,
Your profession,
Your career,
Your family,
Your body,
Who are you?
Here we've just contemplated the Niyama of Swadhyaya self-study,
The question of asking who am I?
Continue to ask this question day in and day out as you study the self,
The physical form.
And if there's more you wish to know about the Yamas and the Niyamas,
The practice of yoga on and off the mat,
Check out my book,
My Living Yoga Journal.
I'll be sharing with you more other meditations from this journal.
As you're ready,
Bring your hands to your heart,
Press your palms together,
Lift your chest.
Take a big breath in,
Exhale,
Release your palms,
Open your eyes and begin to move throughout your day.
And as you move throughout your day,
Start to notice,
Are you identifying with your thoughts,
With your body,
With your labels?
And is that actually who you are?
And if not,
Then who are you?
Continue to journal and ask yourself these questions.
Who am I?
Who is watching?
Who is thinking?
Who is breathing?
Who is asking these questions?
Who is eating these foods?
Who wakes up and who falls asleep?
I'll see you soon.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
