Hi,
Beautiful soul.
Good morning.
As we share this moment together,
I want to give you one really simple practice.
Not to be,
Not to perform,
But just to witness.
Witness where your mind or your body is asking for your attention.
This morning,
I allowed myself to start my morning slowly,
Slowly making my morning cacao.
I allowed myself to sit,
To be,
Not to perform,
But I allowed myself to sit in silence,
Which turned out to be extremely challenging because I'm someone who is used to reading scripture in the morning,
Journaling in the morning,
Setting my goals,
Trying to figure out the kind of energy I wish to bring to today.
Who do I want to be today?
How do I want to show up?
No breath work,
No meditation,
But mindful awareness to noticing,
To witnessing every gentle pull of attention.
My thoughts pulled me in one direction.
My body wanted to wiggle in another.
I want to invite you this morning to sit or stand or walk and allow yourself to be in stillness and to witness what's happening.
Is your mind asking this and that?
Is your physical body,
Your temple,
Your housing on this earth?
Is that physical body wiggling,
Unable to sit still for just a little while and just see what happens when you allow yourself to do nothing?
Is there a sense of panic coming over you or perhaps a sense of weirdness like who am I to allow this pace and quiet to come over me?
Or the longer you allow yourself to be here,
Does it seem to get a little more easy,
Perhaps a little less uncomfortable?
Now,
As you are,
Notice things slowing down,
Perhaps your mind wandering a little less.
As you become more comfortable with simply being,
With simply sitting still or standing still or lying still and just to notice what's going on around you and as we slowly start to bring awareness to our physical surroundings,
Our physical being,
Let's bring awareness into the toes and the fingers and when you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Now,
This was a very gentle practice for today and there is one thing you can take away from this,
That if you allow yourself to be,
To witness,
To notice,
To observe that all those worries and thoughts and things and lists and uncomfortableness of just being with yourself,
That slowly becomes a little less daunting.
So if you want to work on being more comfortable with yourself,
Allowing yourself to be still and quiet and calm and grounded,
Not to do a 10-step morning routine of breathwork and ice bath and facial massage,
If you want to focus on becoming that version of you that is perhaps buried deep inside of you,
Calm,
Grounded,
Allowing yourself to be at peace,
Living slowly,
Living mindfully and for the next three mornings,
Practice to just be,
To witness,
To notice,
To sit and quiet,
No journaling,
No reading,
Not writing down what you're grateful for or what your goals are,
Just one minute or two minutes of silence.
Thank you for joining me in this practice today.
