Hello and welcome to this gratitude reset.
How are you today?
My name is Amanda Sellers and I am thrilled to be here with you.
I have been a meditation teacher on Insight Timer for maybe seven years now.
And I love this platform,
Love this community,
And I'm happy to be here.
We're gonna use some science.
To talk about.
Our gratitude.
Okay,
And.
.
.
Feeling grateful.
The one thing I noticed.
.
.
When we were doing our gratitude.
Experiment!
Is the momentum.
And how showing up every day.
The momentum and the motion.
And the practice was just so,
Like,
Apparent.
And when you step away from it.
It's like,
Oh yeah,
We have to continually.
Water that plant.
And put focus on it.
So,
It's just like Newton's Law.
Of motion.
And that is an object?
In motion stays in motion.
When we Practice gratitude every day.
We keep it in motion.
We keep it up and running.
And when we don't?
When It's still?
It's harder to get it back up.
Harder to keep it going.
It's just like any kind of a workout plan,
Any kind of a business like plan when we're in motion with it.
When we keep,
And it doesn't have to be,
This grandiose amount of focus and energy.
Just water it a little bit.
A little bit of attention every day.
Transformations don't happen in these gigantic moments.
I mean they can,
You can have some awakening and a completely life-changing moment.
But for the most part,
It usually starts with a small movement.
A grateful breath.
A healthy meal,
A conversation.
A meditation.
Or one after.
Of courage.
So gratitude keeps you moving in that right direction.
When we practice gratitude,
We're more likely to keep going,
To not give up.
To look for the good.
Which brings me to my second point.
Riches Delusional.
Optimism.
One of my favorite things.
About life.
Maybe like a small favorite thing about my personality.
That I like.
Is that I can,
I can find meaning.
In everything.
Is anyone else like that?
Where you can notice a conversation between people.
Or,
You know,
See a rock.
Notice signs.
And even if you just give it your own meaning.
And you think about how you can apply that.
Yesterday,
So I'll just give an example.
I was.
Going for a walk.
And I had a goal.
To go to my 10K mark.
On this walk.
" And I'm walking and I'm like,
What's the point?
I don't want to go the 10K.
I'm just going to go to the 8K mark and go back.
And then I was like,
Well,
No.
I have to do what I said I was gonna do.
And I'm gonna keep going,
I'm gonna go the distance because I know.
That's what builds your character,
Your mindset.
Following through,
Which,
You know,
Is something that I've struggled with over the years is having that self-trust.
Oh,
Self-sabotage in moments or let myself down.
So I'm like,
No,
I said I was going to go.
I'm going.
In that moment when I decided to keep going.
Then all of a sudden,
These two girls.
.
.
Passed by on a bicycle.
And this.
Girl,
She like- just passed me and she yelled out Life is limitless!
And like,
She said it to me and I was like,
Nice.
And then because I acknowledged her,
She was like,
Woohoo.
And then she drove off.
And then I kid you not,
Then coming towards me,
This very handsome guy.
And I was like,
Whew,
Well that was cool.
And then I thought,
If he passes me again,
Like on my way back after I hit my 10K mark,
I'm like,
I'm gonna say hi.
I'm gonna say hi.
And I was like,
But there's such a good chance that he's gone and,
You know,
I don't see him again.
But I turned around on my.
.
.
At my mark and I'm walking back.
And sure enough,
He's coming right for me.
I'm like,
Oh,
I got to do it.
And I was like,
Hey.
And he said,
Hello.
And he kept going.
I was like,
OK.
I'm finding these signs,
Right?
Life is limitless.
I'm looking for the possibility,
The opportunity.
And I guarantee I can't remember the moment,
But I know I was walking with gratitude.
I know I was practicing gratitude.
I know I was grateful to be where I was.
And when we are grateful,
When we do have that.
Delusional optimism when we are in motion and we follow through were much more likely.
To see the possibility.
To see the support,
To see the beauty of life,
To see the human connection.
And our own personal growth,
Our own.
Evolution.
Because we're not done.
We don't just be grateful one day and we're good.
Or we don't just go for one walk.
And it's good.
We show up for ourselves.
Every day and by starting with gratitude,
It's like the marker.
It's like the.
.
.
It's like the appetizer.
Yeah I get to live this life.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for this weather.
Thank you for the trees.
Thank you for the sun.
Thank you for this breath in my lungs.
Thank you for another day to move my body.
If we can,
We must.
Thank you for the love in my heart.
To be able to let go.
2.
Allow this.
You know,
Potential.
Resentment or any bitterness I'm holding on to,
To go.
Because I'm grateful.
So when we're optimistic.
It's not like.
.
.
We're luckier because,
You know,
The universe is going to play favorites.
It's like we get luckier because we stay open long enough to notice.
The possibilities.
I saw a real.
There is this entrepreneur who checked into an Airbnb.
And it was gonna be his.
Time to reset.
To work on a project and to just Have this.
Sabbatical kind of moment with himself.
And.
.
.
He gets into this real,
He gets into this location.
The residents.
And it's like floor to ceiling windows in this place that he had rented.
And he was so excited.
So he gets there and he's opening the blinds.
Lo and behold!
It is like there's probably 30 construction workers.
Right on the other side of the window and they're completely like got the jackhammers and they're like redoing this whole thing.
And he was so frustrated.
He was like,
This sucks.
This is not what I signed up for.
This is not how it's supposed to be.
" And he was so mad.
But then he asked himself this question.
He said.
What if.
.
.
I were to make this fun.
What if it is my job?
To take this situation.
And make it fun.
What would that look like?
And so what he did was he made a reel about it.
He went and got every single worker.
Some smoothies.
Filmed himself,
Brought it out there,
And was like,
I'm gonna make the most of this.
And he gave them all smoothies and he was like chatting with them,
Connecting,
And then made a reel about it with that one question.
What if.
.
.
I am meant to make this fun.
What if I made this fun?
What would it look like?
Can't remember the exact question.
I screenshotted it.
But then he makes this real.
And it goes completely viral.
And,
You know,
I'm sure there were some opportunities or something that came of it,
But it's just.
That perspective.
That everything is working out.
That we can flip the script.
We can make it more fun.
We can notice possibilities.
And be grateful.
It's the duality of life.
Things are going to be hard.
We're not done.
Tuning in right now with like perfect life with no challenges or contrast or you know,
Things aching in our heart or things that we wish could be different.
But the key is.
.
.
To continually.
Look for the light to continually Believe in possibility.
Believe in yourself.
Believe in potential.
And to be grateful.
For everything that we have.
We get to do this.
We get to be here.
We get to be on Insight Timer right now.
Memento Mori someone said to me the other day.
And it's.
It's the notion that this isn't forever.
We are.
We are not these.
Immortal beings like in this body,
This vessel,
This consciousness.
Yes sir,
You know.
Soul lives on and whatnot.
But in this physical presence right now.
My name is Amanda.
It's now.
This is it.
What will we do?
I know I'm grateful.
So let's Meditate.
And take some deep breaths.
Ends.
Know that.
We are.
Connected as a community.
And that we are.
Hoping for the best.
For each other.
And we see the good in each other.
And we see the potential.
And we see the light.
In one another.
And I know I am grateful.
For this community.
For this connection.
For this reminder.
Humanity.
A reminder of.
The real authenticity.
Of who we are.
So close your eyes.
And just noticing how.
You are feeling.
Right now.
Right here.
Right now.
And if anything is coming up,
Just welcome it.
Recognize.
And just allow it to be there.
But with every breath in and every exhale.
Allow it.
To soften.
Becoming more.
Grounded.
And calm.
And.
.
.
Feeling,
At ease.
And if your mind is wandering,
Just Bring it back to stillness.
Bringing attention to your heart space.
As you breathe in and breathe out.
Noticing the energy around your heart.
Baby,
It's love.
Maybe.
Its gratitude.
What are you grateful for?
What else are you grateful for?
Who are you grateful for?
Think of someone,
Bring someone to mind.
That you're grateful for.
And see them.
Standing in front of you.
Look them in the eyes.
Ta-ra.
You're grateful for them.
Thank you.
And now think of something that you desire.
Something you want to call in.
To your life.
And feel grateful for it as if it is here.
Now.
Thank you.
Thank you for this.
How does it feel?
To have this.
Here now.
Giving gratitude for it.
And if you were to Make one small motion towards this desire today.
What would it be?
Thank you.
I am grateful.
That momentum.
Is working for me.
Right now.
I am grateful that.
Every small step I take.
Is creating.
Something beautiful.
Something powerful.
I'm grateful.
To put this.
In motion.
Because I know.
That what goes into motion stays.
In motion.
So I allow it.
To work for me.
I'm grateful that I'm consistently.
Showing up for myself.
I'm using my imagination.
To create this life for myself.
I am grateful.
That I follow through.
That I look for the good.
That the sun is shining.
I look for the good and I see it.
I find it.
I am grateful for the opportunities.
Binding me today.
I'm curious.
About what's possible.
And it's fun to look at.
For signs.
Synchronicities.
Opening doors.
I imagine.
I imagine.
Possibility.
I know I am limitless.
And today.
I treat myself.
With compassion.
And kindness.
And I see what unfolds.
From this place.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Take another deep breath in,
All the way in.
Exhale.
And slowly open your eyes.
Coming back to the room.
Noticing.
How you're feeling.
What came up.
What are you grateful for?
Ends.
What will you put into motion today?
Has been in motion for you.
That you will continually keep in motion.
So thank you for being here.
Thank you for shining your light and for showing up for yourself and continually having that.
Curiosity of what's possible and Gratitude.
Living with gratitude.
Lots of love,
Love,
Love,
Love.
Bye for now.
Mwah,
See ya.
