Busy Mom Meditation
Sophia Lauren once said, "“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.” As a mom of 2 boys, I know how crazy life can get. The day to day is a whirlwind and sometimes gets the best of us. We find ourseleves in chronic stress and worry over managing all the todo's. This meditation is for YOU. No one else. This is less than 10 minutes to give yourself and reclaim the peace and stillness within.

Hello and welcome to this meditation.
Thank you so much for joining me.
The best thing ever was becoming a mother,
But it's also the toughest job.
And I wanted to create this morning practice for mothers so that we may remember that we are doing a good job,
That everything is okay,
And that we need to fill our own cups because we cannot pour from an empty cup.
During pregnancy,
Moms and children exchange cells through their connection with the placenta.
These cells can stay in the mother's body for years.
So our babies are always a part of us,
Just as we're always a part of them.
Being children is like your heart walking around on the outside of you.
So it's that forever balance of giving them everything you can,
Living in the moment,
Letting them figure things out for themselves,
And also allowing ourselves to take the time that we truly need to take care of us.
We're always juggling so many things.
Often times we feel no energy or we don't feel appreciated,
And the patience that we have through all of it.
Being a mom is our superpower.
And a lot of times we feel the pressure of having it all together.
You know,
Having the business and the career,
The clean house,
The healthy lunches,
Have our kids in the best programs,
And then stay perfectly manicured while doing it.
But you know,
Kids don't need a perfect mama.
They need a happy one.
And the most important thing that we can do is live in our joy.
Be committed as mothers to do and find that light us up to our truest expression.
They need a mom who dances in a messy kitchen,
Who takes the trips with her girlfriends.
Never forgets about that spark that lights up her soul.
You're one of a kind,
And you have exceeded your child's expectations already,
So now it's time to take care of you.
If you haven't closed your eyes already,
I invite you to close your eyes.
Take in a deep breath all the way in,
And slowly and gently exhaling through the nose and just let it all out.
And as you inhale,
Say to yourself in your mind,
My heart is open as you take in a deep breath,
And as you exhale,
Just letting anything go that you're holding onto,
As you say,
My mind is free.
Inhaling all the way in,
All the way down to your sit bones,
My heart is open.
Inhaling a little more,
And slowly and gently exhaling,
My mind is free.
And take yourself now to a place that you love to go,
And just imagining that you're outside of a very special place to you.
It can be one of your favorite places in real life or somewhere that you dream of going.
And notice the sights and sounds around you,
The smells,
And just how you feel in this peaceful place.
You feel so serene,
So still,
So connected,
And just so relaxed.
And now imagine in a distance you see a five-year-old little girl walking up to you.
And as this little girl gets closer,
You notice that this five-year-old is you as a child.
As she walks closer,
You give her a big hug,
So familiar as you hold her,
And you tell her that you're going to take care of her.
You're going to nurture her needs.
You're going to tend to her like you do your own children.
So what do you tell your five-year-old self?
What does she tell you?
What does she need?
How can you love her even more?
Now as you say goodbye,
Know that the essence of this five-year-old little girl,
This little you,
Is within you.
And place her in your heart.
Place your hand over your heart and feel the essence of you as a child within your heart space right here,
Right now.
And vow to take care of her,
This being that this five-year-old has become,
This beautiful being,
This now mother.
She is always here with you.
You feel her energy,
Her uniqueness,
And you have an overflowing compassion for this sweet soul.
You commit to taking care of her needs,
Embracing what lights her up,
And asking every day what would bring her joy today.
Take a deep breath in,
Just feel that essence in every cell of your body.
Just know that you got this.
Now I invite you to repeat these affirmations out loud if you can,
Or just in your mind.
My life is beautiful.
I am beautiful and radiant.
I handle it all with confidence and grace.
I am doing an amazing job.
I am brave.
My home is full of love and joy.
I teach my kids by example every day.
I choose to care for myself.
My own needs are important.
I am a leader to my children.
I release judgment and embrace the present moment.
I trust my intuition.
I am doing an incredible job.
I remember my inner child in my heart.
I commit to living in joy.
I carry forth today with a grateful heart.
Alright,
Take another deep breath in,
All the way in,
All the way to the top.
Hold it and exhale to the sound of ah when you're ready.
And open your eyes.
Come back to the room and know that you got this.
I hope you have a beautiful day,
From one mama to another.
I love you.
I see you.
And we are in this together.
Namaste.

I especially loved the moment of envisioning our 5 year old self and what it is she needs. It is so easy to forget our inner child and let all of life’s responsibilities - many of which are self imposed - take over our being. As mothers, too often we forget to fill our own cup and seek out what we truly need to be happy and fulfilled. Thank you for this awesome self reflection!

I never cried during a meditation and I did today! It was nice though, I wish I could hug my 5-year old self and tell her how much I love her. I also really miss my mum, whom I haven’t seen face to face for over 2 years due to Covid. It’s beautiful and I love it, even though I’m still crying! Thanks

Beautiful meditation. Im a 34 year old single mum to a 29 month old so it's difficult because of my age and because of his age at the minute. His dad is 24 but just doesn't seem interested rn. I'm sure he'll be in touch....one day. But whatever, he can do him and we'll do us. I just wish he wanted a family with us because it's going to be a hard pill to swallow when he has a family in the future as he left us when I was pregnant and I had to go through it alone and have my mum at my son's birth. It saddens me that he did that then got in touch when he was 4 months old, saw us again, broke my heart again and now doesn't even bother anymore. I just want a family, I just want a break or abit of help from someone so I can have a nice warm bath, when I have put Alfie to bed, all I want to do is just sit and watch telly or I have to do the dishes or eat something myself. Before you know it, it's time to meditate then go to sleep again. I wouldn't change it for the world but I just wish I had some help by my side, with him or something to make me happier. I spend all my time making him happy I forget to look after myself. But it's all about him and if he's loved and happy....and he is, Amanda, because I put him first like all us mums do, we put out kids first. And that's the main thing. Maybe one day, I'll have my own little unit in the form of a full family (partner included lol) and we can be fully able to go places, adventure together and travel the world. It's so hard on one person's payments. I don't drive, so it's hard. Else I'd take him out everyday for an adventure. The place we live is boring boring boring and it gets tedious walking the same route all the time. So I need more adventure. Maybe learning to drive is something I can do but then I have, well, who'll have my son while I learn. I could take a lesson when he's at nursery though I suppose. That's an idea....Oooh, yes! I could do that! Tysm Amanda, with rambling on I never would have gotten to that. Ty for a beautifully emotional meditation and the wisdom in your words was amazing. Thank you. Blessings on all the Sellers' bunch. 🙂💯❤️
