Thank you for joining me for this grounding shavasana practice.
This is your chance to pause and reset if you will.
And so take this opportunity,
Take this moment and clear away any clutter from your space.
And although shavasana can appear a lot like meditation,
Its purpose is just a little different.
Its purpose is for you to find total rest.
It's the intention of leaving behind the previous self and moving into a new state of mind,
A new energy.
The Sanskrit word shavasana,
It translates to corpse pose.
And although when we hear that it can feel a little bit unsettling,
Please understand that it's referring to the death of our old self.
From total stillness and softening for a period of time,
We learn to allow what has occurred in the past and let the new you come forth.
This space you are creating it is sacred.
And so take another moment and make sure that you are creating the space just as you need for it to be.
And then go ahead and lay back and place the soles of your feet onto the floor with your knees bent.
Place your arms down by your sides,
Palms facing down and take a couple really nice deep breaths in through the nose and gently out through the mouth.
And on your next exhale,
Begin to lift your hips up just for a gentle bridge pose.
Inhale at the top and on your next exhale,
Lower gently back down towards the floor.
Breathe in.
Exhale,
Lift your hips.
Breathe in again,
And then lower.
Inhale one last time here.
Then exhale,
Lift your hips up.
Feel the inhale come in.
And on the exhale,
Lower gently back down.
Bring your knees now into your chest and just rock a little bit from side to side.
And now straighten out your legs.
Palms turn up.
Close your eyes.
Allow your breath to move ever so delicately through you and soften into the weight of your own body into the earth.
Swallow once,
And then soften the space between your eyes.
And begin to notice the places in your back body that are supporting you.
The back of your head,
Your upper back and shoulder blades,
Arms,
Your hips,
And your heels.
These places are like roots growing down into the earth,
Creating a foundation for you to grow.
It's okay to soften here.
And it's okay to exhale and to feel the edges of your body begin to soften more.
It's here that you can rest.
You see the earth will hold you.
The ground is right beneath you.
Resting here,
We cannot fall.
So there's no need to hold on so much all the time.
And so where?
Where can you soften?
Where can you release?
Perhaps it's in your belly.
Maybe a little bit more in your throat or deep within your chest around your heart.
And find some softness in the palms of your hands.
Relax your thumbs and let your fingers just curl in a little bit.
Give yourself permission to be here.
Allow your breath to get small.
And see if you can notice a pause now after your exhale.
And to be in this comfort that you've created.
And now begin to deepen your breath and open up all your senses.
Notice what you hear in the space around you.
What you smell.
And blink your eyes and open up to the world around you.
Place one hand at your heart,
Dear friend,
And give thanks to yourself for letting go of the old you so that you can step into the now more present you.
Namaste,
My friend.
Namaste.
