Welcome to this guided meditation.
Our practice today,
This mountain meditation,
Is about strengthening our foundation,
Helping us root down into whether change,
Challenge,
And expansion in our lives.
We begin this practice by finding ourselves a comfortable seated position,
Either in a chair or on the floor.
Wherever you're seated,
Making sure that you are upright,
That you have a tall,
Elongated spine from tailbone to crown.
Hands are resting gently on your lap.
Palms turned upwards,
Receiving the energy from around you.
Settling into this posture for a moment,
Checking in with your body,
Noticing anything that might be calling out to you.
When we first come to stillness,
It may take a few moments for us to settle before we truly arrive energetically,
Emotionally.
We begin to connect with our breath to help with this process.
Of turning inward for this work.
Gently become the observer of your breath.
Watching the inhale,
And the exhale,
And the exhale,
Watching the inhale and the exhale,
Noticing the cycle and any sensations it brings about in the body.
Is there any tightness that could use a little releasing to allow the free flow of this beautiful life force breath to make its way through the belly,
The diaphragm,
And the lungs,
Expanding the chest.
Can we allow the shoulders to soften just a bit?
The relaxing of the belly,
All the muscles.
And just be with this breath for a moment without control or judgment a simple noticing.
If you haven't already,
I encourage you to gently close your eyes and with a soft gaze behind closed lids,
Lifting this upward and outward,
As if you were standing before a majestic mountain range.
Watching the sun dance along its peaks,
Casting brilliant light and shadows all around.
As you view this mountain,
Imagine in your mind's eye becoming one of those mountains,
Strong in your posture,
Deeply rooted into the ground beneath you,
Allowing yourself,
Like this mountain,
To surrender to the pull of gravity and going deep into the earth,
Imagining the core that brought you this mountain to life.
This fiery center in all its power rose above and created every inch.
Feel this power rising up your spine like the cliffs of this mountain.
Your shoulders and head are the peak,
Strong,
Connecting to all that is around us.
Beginning to notice everything in and around you,
This mountain.
It's winter now.
Your slopes are gently covered in a dusting of snow,
Signs of the days and weeks to come.
Most of the trees are bare.
It's rather quiet.
The wildlife turned in for the season,
Turned inward to rest,
To renew.
It's as if life on this mountain has slowed down.
As the sun sets,
Temperatures plummet cooler and cooler,
But this beautiful winter sky allows the clearest view into the galaxy.
The shower of stars gracing the skyline,
Such stillness.
The wildlife that dares to come out is just seeking signs of life,
Nourishment,
Shelter.
Storms roll in and the snow continues to pile all along the ridges,
Growing heavy all throughout the branches of trees as they succumb to gravity.
They let go.
The days and nights continue to pass and you notice the light from the sun hangs around just a little bit longer each day.
It's as if you can feel the sunshine warming up just a bit.
The breezes are less frigid that blow through and the piles of ice and snow begin to accept this warm sunshine.
The small trickles of water begin to stream through underneath this coating.
It's as if on the outside you can't tell anything's going on,
But underneath life is beginning to come around again.
You can hear the sounds of birds returning.
There's this sense that something is coming.
A bunny pops its head up here and there.
The deers start to graze on the little sprigs of grass growing up between the melted ice.
And where the trees once lost everything to the winter,
They begin to spring back to life.
The smallest signs of life are coming.
These little buds and their fragrance.
The breezes are still cool and remind you that we're not out of it just yet.
Rain showers day in,
Day out,
Melt,
Nourish,
And spread all of this life around.
And this warm breeze comes back to remind you of all that's possible.
As day and night continue to fade,
With each sunrise,
It's warmer.
You're growing closer to the sun.
You begin to see the face of your mountain once again.
Everything that was underneath that ice and that rain has bloomed into brilliant,
Green,
Lush life,
Teeming.
The birds and the animals,
It's like they're dancing with joy.
Food is abundant.
Shade and shelter.
The sounds and the smells are just intoxicating in their beauty.
There's so much work to be done.
And everyone has their part.
Even when night comes,
The warmth lingers.
So much so that when a storm comes through,
Lightning dashes through the sky,
Threatening.
But you're strong.
And it will pass.
Your protection for all that life continues.
As these days continue to roll,
The heat is just heavy,
And there's a sense of warmth and moisture in the air.
The dew covers everything.
Now the sun seems like it's getting farther away from you.
All the leaves of the beautiful trees begin to pop and turn into these just magical,
Warm,
Red,
Orange,
And yellows.
And everything that was once green has just changed in what seemed like a blink of an eye.
The afternoons grow colder.
And the winds come and take all the leaves to create a blanket on the earth,
As if to protect,
To hold in those last bits of warmth.
This beautiful landscape has become full circle.
Now observe this mountain through the course of the day.
With dawn,
The mountain awakens.
Brilliant blue clear skies.
These golden hues continue to grow as the day wears on.
Dark shadows cast as afternoon rolls by and day gives way to night.
And the sounds of the day drift and turn to nocturnal peace.
As twilight nears,
The stars dance throughout the sky.
The moon rises and its brilliance.
And it's as if the space around and the stars are just endless,
Infinite.
Notice that this mountain withstands the seasons of all the change that it encounters.
It remains steady,
Rooted,
Strong and unwavering throughout the tests of time.
Being like this mountain,
Allowing and accepting the natural flow of life,
The importance of change,
The cycle of dusk and dawn,
Death and life,
This loss that precedes all this game.
Breathing in,
We embody these qualities.
We allow the obstacles and changes that come with each day,
Connecting with this presence.
We are unmovable.
We are strong.
Though we may be shaken by storms,
We continue to unfold,
To expand,
To move forward without a clinging.
As winter turns to spring,
We don't hold on.
As summer blooms,
We don't wish for other times to be.
We settle in and enjoy the beauty of all that is.
It's like our breath cycles with each inhale and exhale.
They need each other.
One does not exist without the other.
And when we just allow the breath,
We allow life to flow.
We experience it with much more ease and grace.
Just like our breath,
If we grip or hold,
We feel tension or tightness,
Anxiety perhaps.
The letting go,
We come to present moment and we allow all possibilities to present themselves.
I thank you for practicing with me today.
Wherever you are and whatever you're working through or with,
May you stay strong,
Unwavering,
While flowing,
Accepting and allowing.
I wish you all the best.
Namaste.
