I thank you for joining me in this practice today.
We will focus our time on creating space so that we may change our perspective and this may be in regards to something you've been thinking about.
Maybe something that's on your mind that you've been going through that could be weighing on you emotionally.
It could relate to our relationships with friends and partners and people we work with.
There's something magical that happens when we can create space,
This pause that allows us to really sink in and be with what we're experiencing from a place of not judging,
Simply observing.
So bringing to your mind perhaps anything that you like to work with today.
Bringing that attention to the forefront of the mind.
And as we settle into our posture,
Getting comfortable,
Gently closing our eyes and keeping our gaze lifted upward and outward as if we were looking above the horizon watching a sun come up over the peaks of a mountain.
And as we settle our bodies in this practice we begin to notice our breath flowing in and out watching and observing the inhale,
Watching the inhale as it enters through the nostrils,
Traveling up the bridge of the nose,
Making its way into the body,
Expanding the lungs,
Belly,
Feeling the diaphragm stretch,
The collarbones and the upper chest expand.
It's incredible when you think about this breath that is invisible to the eye that as you take this into your body it moves you physically.
That this space that exists around us is this oxygen that our body needs.
As we send this oxygen throughout our body,
A myriad of processes unfolding.
As we exhale we notice everything softening once again,
Relaxing,
Settling.
I invite you to just be with your breath for a moment or two feeling all sensations noticing and connecting with this movement of breath.
And watching everything calming and slowing down.
Bringing to your mind's eye this beautiful forest.
Imagine you were amongst hundreds of trees so tall that you can barely see the sky.
Feeling their height,
Their grandness,
Breathing in the fresh air that they produce.
Everywhere you look you just see tree after tree.
This denseness,
Noticing all the shapes of the leaves,
The bark of the trees is it smooth,
Weathered,
Some have knots,
Some might be stunted from growth because they can't quite reach the Sun.
Feeling the earth beneath your feet,
Feeling tall and rooted.
As you begin to look around you,
You notice there is a path between two trees and as you begin to walk down the path you notice this extends and goes deep into what seemed like nothing but trees.
As you walk down the path you hear birds and squirrels wrestling about.
And you begin to start to see this light glowing off in the distance with each step getting a little bit brighter.
As you make your way down this path you begin to see it opens up into this beautiful clearing.
As you look back behind you these tall trees that you used to be amongst seems so far off into the distance now.
Standing in this field reconnecting with your breath each inhale and each exhale you notice that gravity no longer has its strong pull on you.
A sensation floods the body of this free floating.
Heaviness falls away and with great ease in each breath that you take you begin to rise up off the earth.
You're above the line of the trees now.
I can see the entire forest is surrounded by even greater beauty and there's a lake in the distance that's glittering with the sun shining upon it.
You see waterfalls and streams where you could have never imagined.
You're up above mountain ranges the birds are flying by.
The perspective of seeing everything from this height leaves you in awe.
All the colors and the shapes and as you continue your journey upwards joining the clouds where you can barely see the trees.
You begin to leave the atmosphere and a sensation of peace and solitude arises all throughout your body.
As you find yourself in this beautiful space looking down upon the earth you once stood upon.
Those trees representing the heaviness that you might be dealing with the thoughts or the emotions or even the interactions that you might have been replaying.
And now you just look upon it as this beautiful earth that glows with blues and greens illuminated by this incredible light.
Everywhere you look there is space around you.
You feel such a deep connection to this big beautiful world exploring the galaxy by looking out these magical colors.
These stars everywhere.
When we find ourselves deeply rooted within this forest of thoughts that recycle themselves deeply in our emotions our reactions it's really hard to see this magic and this beauty that really is around us.
When we can distance our reactions for just long enough to change our perspective to start to ask the questions that allow us to truly understand what is going on.
Less concerned with the consuming details and appreciating each tree for creating a forest that creates a landscape that creates this earth and all its oxygen.
When we allow space in our life we create the opportunity to choose how we react.
Maybe that means it's a different path for us this time that we walk down from that forest.
But this is a gift this pause.
And so see if you can release any of your feelings or thoughts into this vast sky,
This space around you and let it go.
Watching it float off into the darkness.
You begin to descend back down to earth seeing once again the beautiful clouds the lush landscape and all its brilliance.
And as your feet reconnect with the ground feeling a sense of gratitude for the journey of creating space.
