This is a poem about connection. We are all connected, to our own spirit, to the air we breathe and the environment with live within. We are connected to others all around the world and also to the impacts we are collectively having on nature. And it is because of these connections, that each of us is powerful. Transcript

I am connected to my spirit,

My inner knowing,

My intuition and deepest desires.

I am connected to the air that moves into my body and out,

Shared by others,

Plants and animals alike.

I am connected to the chattering birds that rouse me each morning,

To the unceasing waves washing upon shores,

The rain that drenches the landscape and the soil that supports seeds to emerge.

I am connected to my neighbours across the road who I've never spoken to,

To those I hurry past at busy city intersections,

To those who manufacture my clothes in far off lands and those who grow the fruit and vegetables that nourish me.

I am connected to creatures big and small,

Those in oceans swimming through plastic debris,

The dwindling insect communities,

The rainforest that is being felled at alarming rates and the glaciers whose glory days are numbered.

And as I am connected,

I am influenced by these connections.

And I also have power to create ripples of change.
