The ocean is a source of enjoyment for swimmers,
Surfers,
Water enthusiasts,
Coastal walkers,
A food source for seafood lovers,
A biodiverse home for sea creatures,
Plants,
Microorganisms,
Regulating the earth's climate.
It also provides us with oxygen to breathe,
Absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The ocean is a complex mix of emotions,
Sometimes turbulent and raging,
Other times calm and serene.
This meditation encourages you to connect with the ocean's movement as a source of rejuvenation and revitalization.
You may have had a diversity of experiences interacting with the ocean,
Or perhaps not.
You are invited to experience this meditation just as you are.
Whether you live by the ocean or not,
Take a moment now to feel your body exactly where it is.
Perhaps you'd like to adjust your position so you are more comfortable.
Feel and welcome any physical sensations present in your body,
Whatever they may be.
Maybe areas of tension,
Tightness,
Tingling,
And there could be some different emotions or feelings washing over you.
I invite you to embrace them,
Even the difficult or tricky ones,
Just like the ocean is influenced by weather systems,
The cycles of the earth and moon,
Moving from calm to tumultuous,
Dark and stormy,
To sparkling blue.
You can also move through and experience an array of emotions.
Honor anything that is with you right now.
I invite you now to notice and feel your breathing.
Perhaps you'd like to take a hand to your chest to feel the rhythm of your breath.
With each inhale,
Feel your body expanding,
And each exhale,
Your body releasing air as you sink into the weight of your bones,
Your breath rising and falling like undulating ocean swell.
Feel each inhale like energy rising to the peak of a wave.
Each breath brings fresh oxygen,
Filling your body with vitality.
Each exhale is like the underside of a wave falling back towards the ocean floor as your body softens.
Let your breath be however it is,
Maybe gentle and soft like a calm ocean day,
Or big gulps and large exhales,
Letting go air and tension from your body like a powerful wave.
Breathe to your own rhythm,
Breathe with your own body,
Your breath fluctuating as you move through life,
Just like the ocean changes as different weather systems move through.
The ocean is in constant motion as waves continually reach the shoreline,
Washing up on rocky coastlines,
Steep pebble beaches,
Or wide flat sandy shores.
Sometimes waves are tiny ripples brushing quietly onto the shore.
Other times they are massive breakers surging onto jagged rocks.
Regardless of the size,
Shape,
Or sound of each wave,
Each wave brings new energy,
Energy for restoration.
Each wave gently spills over you,
Replenishing you,
Reinvigorating you,
Revitalizing you.
How does your body feel to be replenished by successive waves of energy?
How does it feel to be revitalized,
Reinvigorated?
Notice how your breathing is as each wave replenishes your energy.
I will give you a few moments to rest in these feelings as each wave brings you more and more restorative energy.
Slowly start to transition back into the space you're in and as you move through into the rest of your day,
