Hi,

My name is Asa.

Welcome to this cozy Christmas guided imagery meditation.

In this meditation,

You'll imagine relaxing by a fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa in your hands,

Surrounded by the most beautiful Christmas decorations you have ever seen.

Before we drift off to our holiday wonderland,

Please make yourself comfortable.

You may sit on a chair or lie down on a couch or a bed.

You can allow your eyes to fall closed or leave your eyes open with a soft gaze on the floor a few feet in front of you.

If you're seated,

Allow the crown of your head to reach up towards the ceiling the next time you breathe in,

And on the following exhale,

Allow your shoulders to relax down towards the earth.

Slowly begin to deepen your breath.

Make your next inhale a little deeper and the following exhale a little longer.

Enjoy full,

Deep inhales and long slow exhales.

And breathe at a pace that feels comfortable and relaxing.

Soften your jaw,

Relax your shoulders,

And release any tension in your body.

On your next inhale,

Take a deep breath in through your nose and let your exhale out through your mouth with a big sigh.

And repeat that one more time at your own pace.

Release any control over your breath and let your body breathe itself.

If at any point during the guided meditation you notice you've become distracted,

Gently come back to your breath and return your focus to the meditation.

And now for our guided imagery practice.

I invite you to listen to these words as I gently guide you.

Allow your imagination to run wild,

Adding whatever you'd like to create a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

If you haven't already,

Go ahead and close your eyes.

Imagine you're sitting on a cozy chair near a beautiful crackling fireplace.

From a nearby window,

You can see snowflakes gently falling outside,

But it is nice and warm here inside.

A pair of fuzzy slippers cover your feet and a big soft flannel blanket rests over your lap.

Both of your hands are wrapped around a warm mug of hot cocoa.

You carefully bring the mug to your face and smell the rich scents of chocolate,

Marshmallow,

And vanilla.

A smile spreads from your mouth as you think to yourself,

This is the life.

You take a sip of your drink and are instantly drawn to the medley of flavors on your tongue.

This is the best cup of hot cocoa you have ever tasted.

You savor each little sip as you watch the flames dance in the fireplace.

You glance up from the fire and notice the mantel decorations.

A beautiful garland made of fresh cedar,

Fir,

And pine,

As well as the most darling stockings plump with little gifts inside.

You take a deep breath in and allow the evergreen aroma to fill your senses.

And as you slowly exhale,

You realize there was a faint smell of honey,

Too.

Looking over,

You notice a few beeswax candles burning nearby.

The warm flickering candlelight adds the perfect touch to this cozy Christmas room.

You savor another sip of your hot cocoa and allow your eyes to wander around the room,

Becoming aware of even more decorations.

Deep red poinsettia flowers,

A bowl full of peppermint candy canes,

A plate of Christmas cookies,

A large evergreen wreath with pinecones and bright red holly berries,

And of course,

The most beautiful Christmas tree you have ever laid your eyes on.

The branches are sturdy,

Holding up unique ornaments,

And the needles are soft and smell of pine and sugar.

A cute popcorn and dried orange garland is wrapped around the tree,

As well as many,

Many strands of twinkling lights.

A bright star sits at the very top of the tree,

Sparkling above.

Silver bells and bows dot the tree,

And underneath,

Resting on the lovely tree skirt,

You notice a wonderful collection of presents,

Wrapped in festive paper and tied with red and green ribbon.

The Christmas spirit is palpable in the room,

And you just can't stop grinning.

You feel so relaxed and content,

And your heart is full of cheer and joy.

In a moment,

My guidance will fade to allow you a few more minutes to enjoy the Christmas room in your mug of hot cocoa.

Allow any more details of the room to unfold in your mind,

And,

If you'd like,

I invite you to also take a moment to reflect on the meaning of Christmas for you,

Perhaps giving thanks or practicing gratitude for the reason of this very special season.

When you're ready,

You can slowly allow the image of the Christmas room to dissolve from your mind,

Like snow settling in a snow globe.

Bring your attention back to your body in your room,

And deepen your breath.

Take a deep breath in,

Stretch,

And gently blink open your eyes.

Thank you for practicing this cozy Christmas guided imagery meditation.

I wish you a wonderful rest of your day.
