Welcome to Active Meditation.
In this meditation,
We return to our wheel of consciousness to manage an emotional reaction.
When we seek to overcome intrusions from the turmoil in mass consciousness,
We begin this work by becoming thoroughly centered in the very core of our being,
In the center of awareness,
Where we can remain calm,
Observant,
And able to notice,
Without feeling,
The traces of anger,
Fear,
Or disappointment that often swirl about us,
Sometimes in our emotions,
Often out there in others and mass consciousness.
To help this process of detaching from outer negativity,
Let's recall the image of the slowly spinning wheel.
We stand in the very center of this wheel,
Watching the outer events slowly turning about us,
Watching our own emotions and our own thoughts,
Slowly swirling around us,
While we remain unmoving,
Quietly observing outer changes,
Outer disturbances.
As we place ourselves in this focal point,
We appreciate that this position in the center also connects us with the power,
Understanding,
The life,
And love of our higher self.
Take a few moments to recognize this connection.
It is already present and building.
We strengthen our bond with these powers by relaxing more and being thankful for the opportunity to improve this connection.
We allow these energies to quietly add themselves to our thoughts,
Feelings,
Desires,
And intentions.
We sense the enriching and renewing power of our higher self.
It is with these energies,
This perspective,
And safety,
That we rise above the negativity about us,
Out there,
At a distance.
We recognize that we have access to the power and insights that can free us from outer distress,
Discouragement,
And resentment.
We realize that our life and experiences are much more than any current or recent distress,
For we are the sum of all our potentials,
All our strengths and skills,
All of our past,
Present,
And future experiences.
We bring all these forces to support us whenever any negative situation comes into our material experience.
Now that our attention is focused in the center of our wheel of consciousness and aligned with our higher self,
Let's review a current,
Difficult,
Emotional experience in our present meditative state.
This experience has produced a reaction,
Anger,
Fear,
Disappointment,
Or other emotions.
On this occasion,
This reaction has been triggered by a person or situation,
Out there,
At the outer edge of our wheel,
While we are in the center,
Observing with our higher self.
I'll be quiet.
Review this reaction.
Notice it is out there.
Keeping our reaction in mind,
We ask ourself,
Do we have any control over this situation,
Any influence over this person?
As it is out there,
At the edge of our wheel,
We realize that we have little or no power or authority over this individual,
Over these circumstances.
We did not cause this event.
However,
Our emotions were triggered.
Our personality reacted at the periphery of our wheel.
We realize that these emotions are not who we really are.
They are an impermanent part of our being,
A temporary manifestation in our character.
Emotions and feelings appear in our consciousness.
We react to them,
And then they disappear,
Eventually.
From the center of this wheel,
In communion with our higher self,
We can control our emotions,
With compassion and understanding.
We can soothe our feelings,
As a parent calms an upset child.
Let's invoke the compassion of our higher self,
Who is here with us at the center of the wheel.
Let this peace build up,
Now.
Now see,
Feel,
Or think about this benevolent energy,
Moving from us at our center,
Out to the edge of the wheel,
To our reactions,
From the situation or person that has triggered our reaction.
We soothe our emotions and feelings,
As if we are calming an agitated child.
I'll wait while we do this.
We can always return to this situation,
Or another person or event,
Later on,
In another meditation.
We can always return to the center of our wheel of consciousness,
To be in communion with our higher self.
This is our oasis in consciousness,
Where we go to manage our reactions,
To the intrusions of mass consciousness,
Other people,
And situations,
As they impose upon our well-being.
It is here,
In the center,
We can soothe our feelings,
Talk to our emotions,
As a parent talks to,
And quiets,
A troubled child.
It is from our center of power and peace,
The center of our wheel of consciousness,
That we can work to transform our distress,
To reform our outlook,
To restore our sense of control and confidence,
To restore the strong,
Peaceful,
And kind person we are meant to be.
We truly are designed to take this peace and self-control into all of our daily activities.
Reflect on the meaning of these thoughts and experiences,
For a few more moments,
Allowing subtle changes to take place in our beliefs and expectations.
Rest in this awareness,
This peace,
In this secure and safe place of consciousness.
Be aware of how our mind is changing in subtle ways,
As we experience our wheel of consciousness.
We adjust our priorities,
Our thoughts,
Feelings,
And desires,
To honor our higher self,
Our highest principles,
And our responsibilities.
Take a few moments for contemplation.
How await!
Now,
It is time to return.
To full waking consciousness,
To time and space.
We bring with us this strong and peaceful state.
We bring with us the knowledge that we have made significant progress in developing a working relationship with our higher self,
The real I.
I am aware.
I am that.
I am.
I am.
