A moment of gratitude.
The seasons.
In the UK,
The 22nd of September 2020 is the date of the autumn equinox and the weather has changed overnight to reflect this.
Yesterday it was hot and sunny,
Today it is far cooler,
The sun is struggling to get through the cloud and there is definitely an autumnal feeling in the air.
For today's moment of gratitude,
We are going to think about the seasons.
Whatever the season is where you are,
Take some time today to think about and have gratitude for the seasons.
It could be the season you are in right now or it could be another season that you particularly love.
Or maybe it could be an appreciation for how the seasons change.
Not everywhere has the same changes in season,
Although most places will have changes in temperatures through the year or have rainy or stormy seasons.
As we move out of summer and into autumn,
The nights draw in but we get to experience the most beautiful sunrises and it is quite magical to wake up to scenes of vibrant colours that look like spectacular paintings.
Although I will miss the long hot summer days,
My appreciation moves to the qualities that the new season brings.
The colours of the leaves on the trees changing from lush green to yellow,
Red,
Orange and brown.
The bright red berries on the trees and walks in the woods.
Summer clothes are changed from warm woollen jumpers and sandals and flip flops to fluffy socks and boots.
Hot chocolate replaces iced drinks and we turn to soups and stews instead of salads.
The changing of the season,
The change from warm weather to cool,
Crisp days is something to reflect upon.
We can look back at the summer and the experiences and memories from that time,
The summer holidays,
The days at the beach or in the park or garden.
Or we can look ahead to the new season and the joys that that brings.
So for today's moment of gratitude,
Choose an aspect of the changing seasons to appreciate.
With so many changes associated with this time of year,
The subject could be one that you return to many times,
Each time selecting another aspect to focus on and have gratitude for.
Until next time,
Always have gratitude.
