A moment of gratitude.
My name's Abby and the theme I've chosen for today's moment of gratitude is books.
So here we can mean physical books or we can mean ebooks and audiobooks because there are many different ways for people to access books and many different reasons as to why they may choose something other than a traditional paperback.
Right now,
For example,
Libraries are closed so we've been more reliant on ebooks and audiobooks.
There are over two million new titles released worldwide every year,
So everyone should have at least one book that they love.
Maybe this is a book from childhood,
Perhaps with beautiful illustrations such as Shirley Hughes books,
Which I remember,
And now Julia Donaldson's rhythmic rhyming books illustrated by Axel Scheffler,
Which my children have read.
Maybe it's a book that takes you to another world where you can imagine yourself or one where you made friends with the characters and were sad to end because you would miss them.
Perhaps it's a factual book which fascinates you,
Sparks your curiosity or helps you in some way.
Today's moment of gratitude is about books,
Whether it is one book you love or just because you love books.
Take a moment to read or to remember.
Maybe buy a book from an independent bookseller.
Many shops are trying to sell online at the moment whilst their shops are closed.
Buy a book as a gift,
Buy a book for yourself.
Always have gratitude.
