A moment of gratitude.
Coffee.
I read somewhere a while ago that British people now drink more coffee than tea.
But whether you opt for a cuppa or a cappuccino,
Use today's moment of gratitude to really appreciate your beverage of choice.
It doesn't have to be tea or coffee,
It can be herbal tea or even water.
Gratitude can be about appreciating the small,
Simple things in our lives.
When you have your drink today,
Drink it mindfully.
Sip slowly,
Appreciating its taste,
Temperature and how it makes you feel.
This year I have really gotten into filter coffee.
I love the depth of the flavour and its richness.
I also love that when I have a coffee it gives me a chance to take a moment to myself,
A moment that no one else experiences.
Whatever is going on around me,
This is a moment in my own world.
You can further this practice by thinking about where your drink has come from.
Who has helped to get what you need for this?
Bean growers,
Leaf pickers,
Water purification experts?
Undoubtedly there will be a number of people involved in the production of your drink,
Even if you choose water.
Next,
You may want to think about what cup you use.
Do you have a preferred one that makes your drink taste better to you?
The cup we use forms part of the ritual involved in our drink and can enhance our experience.
I have a favourite mug for my coffee,
One given to me on Mother's Day.
This one is a great size and I feel it makes my coffee taste better from it.
Further,
I love that it is a special mug.
When I used to work in an office I would always take my mug to work so I had something of my own in a bland,
Impersonal workspace.
A good cup of tea is often offered as a comfort when things go wrong and it can help us ground ourselves when we feel stressed or anxious.
It allows us to focus on that experience and feel real within ourselves.
So whether it's tea or coffee or something else,
Take a moment today to allow a moment of appreciation and gratitude for a simple pleasure in our lives.
Always have gratitude.
