The cleansing river.
Imagine it is a beautiful warm sunny afternoon and you are sitting on the bank of a river.
The water is flowing softly,
Quietly over soft round stones and the calming sound of gurgling and trickling surrounds you,
Pervades your whole being.
As you listen to the sound,
Imagine yourself dipping your toes into the cool cleansing water.
Feel the silky liquid glide over your feet and around your ankles.
Sit there with your feet gently pulled to one side by the gentle current of the water and let out a deep sigh.
And as you do,
Imagine all the stored up pressure and tension flowing out of your body down through your feet and being swept away by the stream.
Feel your mind empty itself of all the disharmonious thoughts that have been revolving around and around in your head.
Let go of the pent up emotions that allow to cling to you in various parts of your body.
See each released emotion and thought as a colour.
There is no need to identify them any closer,
Just observe.
Breathe out another sigh.
And with this breath,
Watch all that you have released pour down you and into the water,
Like paints mixing together and being washed away.
Watch the stream changing colour as your multi-coloured wash merges with the water,
Diluting,
Changing hue.
Keep watching until the river once again resumes its own clear blue-green sheen.
Now,
Take in a deep breath and with this breath notice how you feel.
Do you feel lighter,
Happier,
Brighter?
Breathe out again and allow the sounds from the stream to filter into focus.
This time,
Notice how much clearer everything seems.
Can you hear the birds singing in the trees and the humming of insects that fly past you in the gentle sunshine?
Look into the clear water of the stream now and as you gaze at the liquid crystal gliding gently past,
Give thanks to the river for taking a part of your healing and be assured that nature will always be glad to share your experience of life.
