If your future self is not invented.
And if it's uncovered.
And if it's the self that has always been here.
The question I want you to ask yourself now is.
.
.
If that self is already here.
Where am I still postponing my life?
By trying to improve myself first.
And that's exactly what we'll explore today.
So by the end of this session.
.
.
My goal is for you to experience a mini identity shift.
Away from seeing the identity you're supposed to be shifting into.
Away from the person you think you need to become as the improved self,
The healed self,
The more successful self,
And into the only identity that actually changes anything.
The identity of,
I am a participant in my life.
I am a conscious creator of my life.
So to make this identity shift,
You must first look at where you're still trying to improve yourself before you let yourself fully participate in your life now.
I call this the becoming trap.
It's the pattern that runs on the promise that you've probably heard a thousand times from the self-help world.
Become smarter,
More healed,
More disciplined,
More confident,
More productive,
More worthy.
And then you can have the life you desire.
Get there first,
And the life you want will be waiting on the other side.
This pattern is no stranger in spiritual circles either.
A while back,
I got invited to a four-month manifestation cohort,
Promising you'll become a master manifester.
A whole pile of brilliant teachers,
Months of going deep into dissolving your energetic blocks,
Balancing your chakras,
Having your first kundalini awakening,
All of it.
My first reaction was,
This sounds amazing.
And then I caught myself an axe.
What is this actually going to do for my life right now?
I'm sure it would be beautiful.
Beautiful wisdom.
Beautiful teachers.
But will it just be beautiful noise?
Is it one more gorgeous way to postpone the one or two things that would actually have a real impact on my life now?
This isn't to say we should avoid courses or avoid spending time learning,
But somewhere along the way,
Self-improvement stops being preparation for real life and starts being a substitute for it.
Because underneath the promise of consuming more courses,
More YouTube videos,
And more podcasts is the belief Who I am right now is not enough to enter the life that's calling me.
It's the old story.
I'm not enough yet.
I need the unlock,
The missing piece,
The one more technique that finally makes it all click.
This is what makes the becoming trap hard to recognize and so seductive.
It disguises itself as well-intentioned self-help.
So what do we do?
We keep reading,
Keep finding ways for healing,
Keep planning,
Keep studying,
Keep waiting to feel more ready.
And our minds interpret all of that as progress.
But underneath,
We're avoiding the very life that is here.
This is how self-improvement becomes a way to escape ourselves and what our life is asking of us right now.
We keep circling the life we say we want instead of stepping into it.
Always being just one more elusive step away from permission to begin.
And the longer we stay there,
The easier it is to live inside imagined potential,
Watching our lives instead of participating in them.
But this isn't about resisting growth.
It's about refusing to become a stranger to yourself,
And realizing you don't need to keep improving yourself before you participate in your life.
So back to our mini identity shift.
How do you move from the improved self from the more successful self.
From being an observer of life to a participant.
To,
I am a conscious creator of my life.
It starts by noticing where you're consuming instead of embodying and creating.
Where are you living as a spectator?
Reacting.
Rushing,
Scrolling.
Absorbing chaos instead of choosing purpose,
Clarity,
Connection,
Creativity.
Responsibility.
Then you might wonder.
.
.
How do I actually choose those things?
By looking at what you're actually giving your attention to.
By treating a part of self-improvement for devotion.
Self-improvement can keep you devoted to fixing yourself.
Participation redirects some of that devotion toward what you want to create,
Care for,
And express.
So what are you devoted to?
Start there.
Remember,
This series is return to self.
That means this work is about remembering who you are,
Uncovering the self that has always been here.
That means the question changes from,
How do I improve myself enough to begin,
To how do I participate in my life from the self I already know is true and that is already here.
Your uncovery begins there.
From spectator to participant,
From consumer to conscious creator.
Here are five reflection questions to help you start making that identity shift.
Don't overthink them.
Let the answers come as they come,
Without editing yourself.
You can soar through them later.
And feel free to pause the recording if you need more time.
So take a deep breath with me here and settle yourself back into the moment.
Feel the whole of your body for a second.
Take another deep breath.
And let it go.
Question number one.
What things give me energy?
When I actually give myself to them.
This is about aliveness.
What lights you up from the inside?
It could be literally anything.
Doesn't need to be some grandiose endeavor.
What gives you energy?
When you actually give yourself to them.
Question number two.
What do I keep saying matters to me?
But not making space for it in my actual life.
Another way to axe this.
What are you interested in?
Even if you keep postponing it.
The intention here is to move from imagined values into lived values.
From imagined actions into lived actions.
Question number three.
What's one piece of unnecessary noise,
Consumption,
Or preparation I am ready to release?
What is unnecessary that you're ready to let go of?
Question number four.
Now if you stopped giving your attention to the thing you just identified,
What becomes possible?
If you stop trying to improve yourself.
For just one week.
What would you finally have energy to create,
To express?
Or to care for.
What would give you energy to nurture?
Just one week.
And finally,
Question number five.
What's one thing you can do regularly that would make a real difference in your life simply because it brings you back to yourself?
One thing.
That returns you to who you are.
This is about taking one real act of participation in your life and giving it a place in your day.
Not because it's going to give you something.
But because it reinforces a truer identity.
It returns you to yourself instead of pulling you away from it.
And that's the crux of what we've been exploring.
Returning to the self beneath all the noise and letting your life unfold from there.
I call this manifestation through authenticity.
And that's what we'll explore in part 6 of this series.
Stay tuned.
I am a participant in my life.
I am a conscious creator.
Of my life.
